Next World Capital led a $19 million Series D investment in the big data analytics company Datameer. Investors in the round also include Workday, Citi Ventures, and Software AG , as well as existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Redpoint Ventures. The company previously raised about $18 million in funding. As part of the Series D round, Ben Fu, a partner at the San Francisco-based expansion-stage firm Next World Capital, has joined the board.
CloudFlare, which offers cloud-based services to improve security and website performance, announced its 2013 report card, including how it quietly raised $50 million in Series C funding in December 2012. The funding came from Union Square Ventures and Greenspring Associates, with existing investors New Enterprise Associates, Pelion Venture Partners and Venrock also participating. The San Francisco-based company has now raised $77 million in total funding.
Mocana, a provider of a platform that helps secure mobile devices, has received a strategic investment from GE Ventures, with existing investors Shasta Ventures, Southern Cross Venture Partners, Symantec and Trident Capital also participating in the round. The company told peHUB that the amount of the round was $15 million. San Francisco-based Mocana previously raised $47 million in funding, the company said. This includes a $25 million round in July 2012 at a $138.9 million valuation, according to Thomson Reuters (publisher of peHUB).
American Efficient, which provides a SaaS platform for helping users buying energy efficient appliances, consumer electronics and heating and cooling equipment, emerged from stealth today and announced it has raised $2.5 million in Series A funding. Clean Pacific Ventures led the round, which included additional angel investors. As part of the funding, Sean Schickedanz, managing partner of Clean Pacific Ventures, has joined the board. American Efficient was founded by CEO Ross Chanin, who previously co-founded Reputation.com.
File sharing service provider Egnyte announced it raised $29.5 million in an oversubscribed Series D round of funding. Investors include Northgate Capital Group, strategic partners Seagate Technology and CenturyLink, as well as existing investors Google Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Polaris Partners. The Mountain View, Calif.-based company, which said it was looking to raise $25 million in the Series D, has now raised $62.5 million in total funding. CEO Vineet Jain told peHUB during a reception Tuesday night that it is considering an IPO in 2015.
HealthLoop, which provides a cloud-based physician-and-patient-engagement platform, announced today it has raised a $10 million Series A round led by Canvas Venture Fund and including Subtraction Capital. The Mountain View, Calif-based company previously raised $3 million in seed funding from various individuals and firms, including Kapor Capital. The funding is the first deal Canvas has made from its new $175 million fund, which closed in August. As part of the deal, Rebecca Lynn, managing director of Canvas, has joined the board.
Heyday, which makes a photo journal app for the iOS platform, officially launched today. The San Francisco-based company, which was founded last year, told peHUB that it raised $2 million in seed funding, all of which was raised in July 2012. Investors include Google Ventures, Spark Capital, TriplePoint Capital, CrunchFund, SV Angel and individual investors Shervin Pishevar, Keith Rabois, Garry Tan, Matt Ocko, Robin Chan, Kevin Chou, David Spector, Amitt Mahajan, Joel Poloney, Ben Narasin, Eric Ries, Saad Khan, Charles Moldow and Roy Sehgal.
