Ridge Ventures, which last year raised $150 million for its fourth early-stage fund, has tapped Brendan Baker to join the team as partner. Baker was previously with Wing and Hone Capital, as well as such companies and accelerators as Passport, Shift, Batch, AngelPad and Techstars. On the investment team, he joins Alexander Rosen, Ben Metcalfe, Gil Penchina and Pat Kenealy.

Patty Abramson, a venture capitalist who co-founded the W0men's Growth Capital Fund in 1997 to invest in businesses owned by women, died Aug. 24 in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. She was 74. Jenny Abramson, her daughter and a managing partner at the venture firm Rethink Impact, told The Washington Post her mother died from cancer-related complications.
