Adcade, an NYC-based startup in the mobile advertising market, has closed over $1.5 million in seed stage funding led by ff Venture Capital. Other participants in the round include Quotidian Ventures, BHV, Great Oaks VC and a handful of angel investors.
Handshakez has closed $3.6 million in venture capital financing. The Series A round was led by Austin Ventures with additional investment by First Round Capital, FLOODGATE, CrunchFund, Valhalla Partners and Thinktiv.
Metaps has secured JPY 1 billion (approx. $11MM) in Series B private equity financing from Fidelity Growth Partners Japan along with existing investors. Metaps is an Android monetization platform that supports developers by providing them with the necessary tools to attract customers, activate users, and monetize traffic.
Link·age Ventures has backed the Alliance Healthcare Investment Fund, LP. Link·age is a private equity firm focused on investing in companies that provide products, services and technology to the aging marketplace and is based in Mason, Ohio. The transaction, which was agreed to in December of 2012, enables Link·age to participate in investment opportunities presenting themselves in the broader healthcare market.
Cornerstone Opportunity Partners, an early stage investment fund affiliated with Cornerstone Angels, has led a $2 million Series A funding round for EatStreet. EatStreet offers an order management platform for restaurants and is based in Madison, WI. Independence Equity I, LP, Great Oaks VC, Gener8tor, existing investors and numerous angel investors participated in the financing.
Kilopass Technology, a provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory intellectual property has received an $8 million funding from a major consumer electronics licensee who wishes to remain anonymous until its own product launch. Kilopass is backed by BlueRun Ventures, Pitango Ventures and U.S. Venture Partners.
Square 1 Bank has provided a $2.25 million debt facility to Carolus Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company. The financing will support future growth. The company is backed by Avalon Ventures.
FindTheBest has raised $11 million in Series B financing led by New World Ventures, with participation from Montgomery & Co. and existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Kevin O'Connor, founder and CEO of FindTheBest and formerly founder of DoubleClick. The funding brings the company's total capital raised to $17 million.
Avedro has completed a $43 million Series D financing led by Abingworth along with a significant investment by Third Point. Avedro's other investors include Prism Venture Works, De Novo Ventures, Flagship Ventures, Aperture Ventures, SCP Vitalife Partners, Borealis Ventures and Echelon Ventures. As part of the transaction, David Mayer from Abingworth and Jason Hong, PhD from Third Point will be joining the board of directors.
LockerDome, a sports social media-publishing platform has completed a $6 million Series A funding round led by Cultivation Capital Growth Fund, a newly formed venture fund spearheaded by Square co-founder Jim McKelvey, among others. Additional participants include the St. Louis Cardinals President William DeWitt III and other members of the St. Louis Cardinals ownership group, 5-time NHL All-Star and Hart Trophy winner Chris Pronger, and a member of the Milwaukee Brewers ownership group, among a number of undisclosed parties.
