Cloud service provider Ravello Systems has closed its second round of funding bringing the total amount raised to $26 million. Ravello is now backed by Sequoia Capital, Norwest Venture Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners.
Taxi app network Hailo has secured a $30.6 million investment led by Union Square Ventures. Entrepreneur and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson and Japanese telco KDDI also invested in the latest financing.
SaaS-based application management provider New Relic has raised $80 million in mezzanine financing to help the company expand into the mobile market, extend operations to Europe in preparation for a future public offering. apceth has received the second round of funding for its stem cell-based cancer therapeutic. The funding is part of the m4 Initiative of the Munich Biotech Cluster.
Invest Nebraska Corporation has closed financing in Virtual Incision, a Nebraska medical device company. The investment was completed with Prairie Gold Venture Partners and Bluestem Capital, both of Sioux Falls, SD. Terms of the investment have not been disclosed.
TakeLessons, an online service marketplace for music lessons in the US, has secured a $4 million round of venture capital financing, bringing the total investment into the company to more than $12 million. Triangle Peak Partners led the round with participation from Siemer Ventures and existing investors Crosslink Capital and SoftTech VC.
Truphone, an international mobile communications company, has secured 75 million pounds ($118 million) in its latest round of funding from investors including Roman Abramovich. Abramovich's investment vehicle, Minden, has acquired a 23.3 percent stake for 70 million pounds, valuing the company at 300 million pounds.
Irish games developer Digit Game Studios has closed a US$2.5 million Series A funding. Delta Partners invested US$2.1 million from its Delta Equity Fund III Limited Partnership, with the remainder of the funds provided by the other existing investor ACT Venture Capital.
Tomfoolery has raised a $1.7 million round of seed funding. The funding was led by Morado Ventures and Sam Pullara, Twitter and Yahoo veteran, now a managing director at Sutter Hill Ventures. Investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Jerry Yang of AME Cloud Ventures, Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of YouSendIt, David Tisch, co-founder of TechStars NYC, and other angel investors.
Core Diagnostics has launched its operations in India. The company is backed by Artiman Ventures.
