NXT Capital’s Venture Finance Group has announced the closing of a $5 million venture loan to Telligent, a provider of social community software for the enterprise. Telligent will use proceeds from this facility for growth.
Tech transfer start-up company Fusion Coolant Systems, has raised $600,000 in venture capital funding, completing its Series A round. The Frankel Fund, a University of Michigan student-led venture capital fund, was the lead investor. Also participating in the financing round was The Amherst Fund, Automation Alley, Detroit Enterprise Fund, First Step Fund and The Michigan Pre-seed Fund.
Big Data management business Zettaset has closed a $10 million Series B financing round led by HighBar Partners, with participation from strategic investor Brocade and Series A investors DFJ and Epic Ventures. John Kim and Roy Thiele-Sardiña, managing partners at HighBar Partners, will join Zettaset's board of directors.
Palo Alto-based start-up Fanplayr has closed a $2 million funding round. The seed financing was led by Denali Venture Partners.
Global residential solar business Sungevity has completed a series of venture capital and project financings, securing up to $125 million to support the company's growth initiatives. The funding includes $40 million raised in 2012 led by Oakland-based impact investment fund, Brightpath Capital Partners, and home improvement retailer, Lowe's. New equity investors Vision Ridge Partners, Craton Equity Partners and Eastern Sun Capital Partners also participated. The funding also includes a combined $85 million in new project financing commitments.
DIYSEO has raised more than $2 million in a second round of venture capital funding and has rebranded the company to UpCity. The funding includes new investors i2a Fund and Firestarter Fund, both based in Chicago; and RIME Communications Capital of New York. Also included were existing investors Daylight Partners and Harris Preston & Partners, both based in Austin, Texas; and UpCity co-founders Patrick Gavin and Andy Hagans.
VO2 Partners and Arlon Group have made a growth equity investment in The Chia Company. Founded in 2003, The Chia Co produces its own brand of Chia products as well as supplying global food manufacturers such as Kellogg and Pepsico.
Technology company Optoro has closed a Series A-1 round of $7.5 million in venture funding led by Grotech Ventures. Previous investors SJF Ventures and QED also participated in the round. This brings Optoro's total funding since inception to nearly $10 million.
Cox Enterprises is investing $250 million with entrepreneur and technology innovator Tripp Rackley. The investment creates an exclusive partnership with Rackley as he further develops cutting‐edge technology businesses and creates and grows high‐value companies.
Versartis, an emerging biotechnology company has completed a $25 million Series C financing lead by new investor Aisling Capital. Also participating in the round were existing investors Index Ventures, New Leaf Venture Partners and Advent Venture Partners' Advent Life Sciences fund.
