CounterTack has closed a $12 million Series B round of funding, supported by Goldman Sachs, Fairhaven Capital and a group of private investors. The funding will help CounterTack to support its accelerated go-to-market strategy and global expansion in the endpoint threat detection and response market.
Biopharmaceutical company SAGE Therapeutics has secured a $20 million Series B financing from investors ARCH Venture Partners and Third Rock Ventures, bringing the total raised to $57.8 million since launch in 2011. The Series B financing will accelerate clinical and preclinical efforts to continue to advance SAGE’s pipeline programs in CNS disorders.
Nginx has secured $10 million in a fully subscribed Series B round of funding. The round was led by venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates and included full participation of existing Series A investors e.ventures, Runa Capital, MSD Capital, as well as participation from Aaron Levie, CEO and founder of Box. With this funding, Nginx has raised $13 million to date.
Invest Nebraska has led a Series B financing round in Omaha-based GamePlan Technologies. Existing shareholders Affiliated Companies and Mountaineer Capital L.P. also participated in the round.
UK-based Albion Ventures has backed Cisiv, a healthcare Software as a Service company, which provides web-based solutions for data capture and management in long-term studies on the safety, cost and benefit of licensed medicines. This is Albion’s fourth investment in healthcare IT and the third this year.

Akkadian Ventures has appointed Mike Gridley as a managing director. Gridley will be Akkadian’s second investing partner and a member of the investment committee with co-founder Ben Black. Gridley was on the founding team of Industry Ventures, where he served as a managing director since 2004.
Cinarra Systems has secured a $4.5 million series A round of venture capital and strategic financing. The funding will enable Cinarra Systems to expand its team, accelerate product development and successfully deliver new products to market. The round was led by Almaz Capital, with participation from Cisco and individual investors. Geoffrey Baehr, a general partner at Almaz Capital, will join the company’s board.
UK-based IP Group has completed a strategic investment in Cambridge Innovation Capital, alongside the University of Cambridge Endowment Fund, ARM Holdings plc, Invesco Perpetual and Lansdowne Partners. Cambridge Innovation Capital will support the growth of innovative businesses based in the UK's Cambridge Cluste’ by investing long-term equity finance to help companies bridge the critical middle stage of commercial development.
Swirl Networks has closed a strategic $8 million investment round led by Hearst Ventures, a unit of Hearst Corporation. The round includes repeat investments from SoftBank Capital, a unit of SoftBank Corp, and Longworth Venture Partners.
