Sherpa.ai, a Spanish language digital voice assistant, has raised $8.5 million in Series A funding. Mundi Ventures led the round.
UK-based Growth Intelligence, an artificial intelligence company, has raised 1.7 million pounds in funding. The lead investor was 24Haymarket, with other investors that included MMC Ventures participating in the round.
Andela, which is building distributed engineering teams with African software developers, has raised $100 million in Series D funding. Generation Investment Management led the round with participation from investors that included Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, GV, Spark Capital and CRE Venture Capital.
Lygos Inc, a producer of specialty chemicals, has raised $5 million in funding. The investor was LG Technology Ventures, an investment arm of the South Korean conglomerate LG Group.
Palo Alto, California-based Ubiquity Ventures has debuted. The new early-stage venture firm, founded by Sunil Nagaraj, formerly of Bessemer Venture Partners, invests in software beyond the screen with a focus on startups in smart hardware and machine intelligence applications. The firm is launching with a $30 million debut fund that will make investments of up to $2 million in startups as early as inception stage.
Australia and California-based Liquid Instruments, a provider of precise test and measurement equipment, has raised $8.16 million in Series A funding. Anzu Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included ANU Connect Ventures.
Independence, Ohio-based Keyfactor, a provider of secure digital identity management solutions, has secured $77 million in funding. The investor was Insight Venture Partners.
Unusual Ventures has named Andy Johns as a partner. Johns is the former president at Wealthfront.
Clearcover, a car insurance provider, has raised $43 million in Series B financing. Cox Enterprises led the round with participation from American Family Ventures, IA Capital Group, Lightbank and Hyde Park Angels while Silicon Valley Bank provided debt financing.
Fintech app Dosh has secured $40 million in Series B financing. Goodwater Capital and Western Technology Investment were the lead investors.
