CVRx Inc., a privately held medical device company, has closed on an additional $12 million in Series F financing, bringing the total funding round to $42 million. New investors include Spanish venture capital firm Ysios Capital, DaVita HealthCare Partners and others. Josep Sanfeliu, general partner of Ysios Capital, joined the CVRx board of directors.
Ingram Micro, a global distributor of information technology products, has acquired VC-backed Shipwire, which provides web-based solutions for storing and shipping merchandise. Shipwire raised $4 million in Series A funding in 2007 in a round led by Meakem Becker Venture Capital. In 2011, the company received a strategic investment from eBay and Newell Rubbermaid, as well as from Meakem Becker.
Openbay has launched its online service and mobile app that helps consumers find, book and pay for local auto repair services. The company is funded by Google Ventures, a16z seed, Boston Seed Capital, Stage 1 Ventures and several individual investors.
Washington University in St. Louis Investment Management Co. has hired veteran private equity executive Daniel Feder to run its private markets program.
Magisto, a cloud-based service for creating personal movies on mobile devices, has closed a $13 million Series C funding round from Qualcomm Inc.'s venture arm, Qualcomm Ventures, SanDisk Ventures and existing investors, including Magma Venture Partners and Li Ka Shing's Horizons Ventures.
Rumble Entertainment, which develops multi-platform, free-to-play games, has closed a $17.5 million Series B funding round led by strategic partner Nexon, a developer of free-to-play online games. TriplePoint Capital, original investors Google Ventures and Khosla Ventures, and additional strategic investors also participated in the funding round. Rumble has now raised a total of $35 million.
Q Factor Communications Corp., which provides solutions to improve the delivery and viewing of content on mobile devices, has received $6.5 million in funding from Sigma Prime Ventures and Venrock. Q Factor's software will be commercially available in early 2014.
Rockabox, a provider of video engagement technology, has closed a £3 million Series A funding round led by Notion Capital and supported by existing investors Frog Capital and fourteen17. The company will use the funding to expand into new markets and further develop its software-as-a-service platform.
Cyphort, a cyber security business, has closed $15.5 million in Series B funding. The funding round was led by Trinity Ventures with participation from existing investors Foundation Capital and Matrix Capital.
Catamount Ventures and Birchmere Ventures have sold TenMarks, an educational product that provides personalized instruction around mathematics, to Amazon.com. The firms first invested in TenMarks in late 2011.
