Burlingame, California-based K-Zen Beverages, a maker of cannabis-infused drinks, has secured $5 million in seed funding. The investor was DCM.
Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Verve Therapeutics, a next-generation cardiovascular company, has raised $58.5 million in Series A funding. GV led the round with participation from ARCH Venture Partners, F-Prime Capital and Biomatics Capital.
Hercules Capital, a specialty financing provider, has promoted R. Bryan Jadot to head of life sciences venture lending and Steve Kuo to head of technology venture lending. Prior to joining Hercules, Jadot served as vice president of the life sciences group at Silicon Valley Bank in Newton, Massachusetts while Kuo was a strategic member of Lightcross.
Indianapolis-based Boardable, an online board management platform, has secured $1 million in seed funding. The investor was High Alpha Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Eric Tobias, a partner at High Alpha, will join Boardable's board of directors.
Berlin-based Tourlane, a planning and booking service for trips, has secured $47 million in funding. Sequoia and Spark Capital led the round with participation from DN Capital and HV Holtzbrinck Ventures.
San Francisco-based Trusted Health, a career platform for modern nurses to work, connect and grow, has secured $20 million in Series A funding. Craft Ventures led the round with participation from Felicis Ventures and Founder Collective.
Sentons Inc, a provider of advanced touch and force sensing solutions, has named Jess Lee as president and CEO. Lee's work background includes roles at InVisage, Apple, OmniVision and Silicon Graphics. In addition to this appointment, Dr. Forest Baskett, a general partner at New Enterprise Associates, will join Sentons' board of directors. Sentons' is backed by New Enterprise Associates and Northern Light Venture Capital.
Carta, which helps companies manage their equity, has raised $300 million in Series E funding, according to a blog post on its site. Andreessen Horowitz led the round with participation from other investors that included Lightspeed Venture Partners and Goldman Sachs Principal Strategic Investments. In conjunction with the funding, Marc Andreessen is joining Carta's board.
Thunes, a payments startup, has secured $10 million in Series A financing. GGV Capital led the round.
SendBird, a chat and messaging API service for mobile and web applications, has raised a total of $102 million in Series B funding. The investors included ICONIQ Capital and Tiger Global Management.
