Pivot3 has closed more than $14 million in funding. InterWest Partners and Mesirow Financial Capital Partners were the lead investors. Focus Ventures, Lightspeed Partners, Silver Creek Ventures, Northleaf Ventures, Wilson Sonsini and Comerica Bank also participated in the round. Based in Austin, Texas, Pivot3 is a provider of data storage solutions.
ByteLight said Friday that it has secured $3 million in Series A funding. Investors included Flywheel Ventures, Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, the eCoast Angel Network, Sand Hill Angels and Google’s Don Dodge. Based in Boston, ByteLight, which is also backed by VantagePoint Capital Partners, is a retail indoor location company.
FertilityAuthority has closed $1.2 million in funding from unnamed investors. Headquartered in New York City, FertilityAuthority is an online fertility planning resource.
CytoDyn has raised $14.5 million in a private placement. Paulson Investment Company acted as the placement agent. Based in Vancouver, Wash., CytoDyn is a biotech company focused on combating infection with immune deficiency viruses.
According to a spokesperson at Highfive (formerly Parlay Labs) , the company has raised $13.5 million in Series A financing. General Catalyst led the round with participation from Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures. Based in Palo Alto, Calif., Highfive is a B2B tech company currently developing a product that will "reimagine the way people communicate at work."
InspireMD said Thursday that it has closed $10 million in financing from Hercules Technology Growth Capital. The company has also adopted a one-year stockholder rights plan. InspireMD is a provider of embolic protection stents.
Medical device company TROD Medical NV/SA said Thursday that it has closed 4.75 million euros in Series B financing. Vesalius Biocapital and Capricorn Venture Partners co-led the round. Other investors included Gemma Frisius Fund, the spin-off fund of the University of Leuven and the Flemish investment firm PMV. As part of the financing, TROD Medical has relocated its headquarters to Leuven, Belgium. Also, TROD Medical has named Frank Bulens of Capricorn Venture Partners and Stéphane Verdood of Vesalius BioCapital to the company's board of directors.
According to TechCrunch, Berlin-based The Football App has raised $7 million in a round led by Union Square Ventures. The site reports that this amount is in addition to the $10 million The Football App raised last May in a round led by Earlybird Venture Capital. The Football App is a provider of comprehensive football news for sports fans.
Malaysia-based financial comparison startup iMoney Group has closed $2 million in Series A funding. Jungle Ventures led the round with participation from ECONA AG, Rebright Partners, IMJ Fenox, Fenox Venture Capital, 500 Startups, Vogel Ventures and angel investor Lim Der Shing. In addition to the funding news, iMoney has named former CIMB, Citi and RBS senior banker Bruno Araujo as co-founder and chief revenue officer.
According to AllThingsD, Pinterest has confirmed the tech blog's previously reported news that the virtual scrapbook site has raised $225 million in a financing round that ups the company's valuation to $3.8 billion. New investor Fidelity led the round with participation from existing backers Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, FirstMark Capital and Valiant Capital Partners.
