ACM Capital Partners, an advisory firm that aids middle market companies in transition or distress, has raised $8 million in financing from Hennessey Capital for TowerComm. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, TowerComm is a provider of wireless tower services.
Sumpto has received $350,000 in funding. Investors include SocialStarts.net and Nick Brien, former CEO of McCANN Group. Based in New York, Sumpto is a platform that measures the social influence of college students.
Medigus said Tuesday that it has raised approximately $7 million in funding. Investors included OrbiMed Israel and several unnamed U.S based investment funds. Based in Omer, Israel, Medigus is a provider of endoscopy-based surgical procedures.
Faction said Tuesday that it has received funding from Octopus Investments. No financial terms were disclosed in Octopus Investment's press release although various outlets report the sum to be $3 million. Based in the UK, Faction is a luxury winter sports brand.
Teambox said Tuesday that it has secured $5 million in Series A financing. Avalon Ventures led the round with participation from the Data Collective Fund. Headquartered in Redwood City, Calif., Teambox is a provider of collaboration and business communications solutions.
Zen Planner said Tuesday that it has closed $10 million in funding from Mainsail Partners. According to the company, the capital will be used for product development, customer service and personnel hiring. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Zen Planner is a provider of cloud-based business management software for the health and fitness community.
Pronutria has raised $10.8 million in Series A funding from Flagship Ventures. Founded by Flagship VenturesLabs, Pronutria, which was in stealth mode for two years, identifies pharmacologically active nutrients found in the human diet.
Teads has raised $5.2 million in Series A funding. The investors were Partech Venture and Elaia Partners. According to Teads, the capital will be used for global expansion. Clipperton Finance advised Teads in the transaction. Teads is a provider of video advertising solutions.
Sideris Pharmaceuticals said Tuesday that it has closed $32 million in Series A financing. MPM Capital led the round with participation from Hatteras Venture Partners and Osage University Partners. In addition to the financing, Sideris has inked an agreement with Novartis Pharmaceuticals that grants Novartis the exclusive right to acquire Sideris in a transaction that could reach up to $300 million. Also, Sideris has named Dr. Ansbert Gadicke and Dr. Kazumi Shiosaki, managing directors of MPM Capital and Dr. Doug Reed, general partner of Hatteras Venture Partners, to the Sideris board of directors. Sideris Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company that develops treatments for transfusion-related iron overload.
According to VentureBeat, San Francisco-based social video site Telly has closed $3.4 million from an unnamed investor. The tech blog reports that the funding is "part of a larger round" and that Telly could receive another $5 million in this round. Telly is backed by Azure Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Siemer Ventures.
