Amaranth Medical has raised $20 million in Series B financing. Singapore-based DCP Management was the lead investor. Existing investors Bio*One Capital, Charter Life Sciences and Phillip Capital joined new investor Venstar Capital in the round. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Amaranth Medical is a provider of medical devices.
Personalis has raised $22 million in Series B financing. Abingworth was the lead investor with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mohr Davidow Ventures and Wellington Shields & Co. Based in Menlo Park, Calif., Personalis is a provider of advanced medical exome and genome sequencing.
Versartis has closed $20 million in Series D financing. Sofinnova Ventures was the lead investor. Return backers Advent Venture Partners' Advent Life Sciences fund, Aisling Capital, Amunix Operating Inc., Index Ventures and New Leaf Venture Partners also participated in this round. In conjunction with the funding Sofinnova's general partner Dr. Srinivas Akkaraju will join Versartis board of directors. Based in Redwood City, Calif., Versartis is a biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for patients with endocrine disorders.
Gobstopper said Tuesday that it has secured $1.8 million in seed funding. Relay Ventures led the round, with participation from New Schools Venture Fund, Kapor Capital, Sand Hill Angels, and Garnett Ventures. In addition to the funding, Kevin Talbot, co-founder and managing partner of Relay Ventures, joins Gobstopper's board of directors. Based in San Francisco, Gobstopper is a digital reading platform for teachers and students.
Molecular Templates said Tuesday that it has raised $8.5 million in Series C financing. Excel Venture Management was the lead investor. Existing investor Santé Ventures also participated in the round. Concurrent with the funding, Excel's Dr. Steven Gullans and Caleb Winder join Molecular's board of directors. Based in Georgetown, Texas, Molecular Templates is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing new biologic therapeutics.
Enterproid said Tuesday that it has closed $12 million in Series B funding. Google Ventures was the lead investor. Existing investors Comcast Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures also joined new investors Globespan Capital Partners and Harmony Partners in the round. Headquartered in New York City, Enterproid is the maker of Divide, the secure mobile platform and will now operate business as Divide.
Sparkcentral, formerly known as TwitSpark, has closed $4.5 million in Series A funding. Sigma West led the round with participation from Social+Capital Partnership, Graph Ventures and Sebastien de Halleux, co-founder of Playfish. Based in San Francisco, Sparkcentral is a customer service platform.
Grabit, an SRI International spin-off, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding. Formation 8 led the round with participation from ABB Technology Ventures and NIKE. Based in Santa Clara, Calif., Grabit is a maker of electroadhesion-based material handling solutions for manufacturing, logistics, and service sectors.
Appoxee said Tuesday that it raised $1.8 million in additional seed funding. Lazarus Israel Opportunities Fund and Moshe Lichtman led the round with participation from existing investors Cyhawk Ventures and Oryzn Capital. Also, Appoxee has named Dennis Mink, former CMO at DudaMobile, to lead global marketing for the company. Based in Tel Aviv, Israel, Appoxee is a mobile app engagement platform.
