Oakland, California-based Turnitin, a service that aims to detect student plagiarism, has named Arne Duncan, former U.S. Secretary of Education, to its board of directors. Currently, Duncan, who served as U.S. Secretary of Education from 2009 to 2015, is the managing partner of Emerson Collective. Turnitin is backed by Insight Venture Partners, GIC, Norwest Venture Partners, Lead Edge Capital and Georgian Partners.
Wefarm, a farmer-to-farmer digital network, has secured $5 million in seed funding. True Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Skype, WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg, Blue Bottle Coffee CEO Bryan Meehan, LocalGlobe and Accelerated Digital Ventures.
London-based venture firm LocalGlobe has named Julia Hawkins as a partner, according to a source familiar with the firm. Hawkins will focus on media and health tech investments. Her work background includes stints at Goldman Sachs, BBC Worldwide and Universal Music. 
European private student lender Future Finance has raised 40 million euros in Series C funding. KCK led the round with participation from other investors that included S-Cubed, Invus and Fenway Summers.
HubHaus, a provider of co-living housing solutions for working professionals, has raised $10 million in Series A funding, according to a blog post on its site. The investors included Fuel Capital, Mike Stoppelman, Jeff Fluhr, Andrew Swain and Graph Ventures.
Wolf Capital Ventures has raised $27 million for its third fund, according to an SEC filing. The target is $100 million. The Silicon Valley-based firm invests in financial services.
Artland, a Danish platform focused on connecting art collectors and galleries, has raised $1 million in funding. The investors included Olympic dressage champion Andreas Helgstrand, musician and songwriter Shaka Loveless and Airhelp founder Nicolas Michaelsen.
Rent the Runway, an online e-commerce website that allows women to rent designer apparel and accessories, has raised $21 million in funding, according to a spokesperson for the firm. The investor was an affiliate of Blue Pool Capital Limited.
Salesforce has agreed to acquire CloudCraze, a B2B commerce platform, according to a company announcement on the Salesforce site. No financial terms were disclosed. CloudCraze's backers included Insight Venture Partners, reported data from Crunchbase.
Mindbody has agreed to acquire Booker Software, a business management platform for salons and spas, for about $150 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of this year. Booker Software's backers include Medina Capital. Bain Capital Ventures, Revolution Ventures, TDF Ventures and Grotech Ventures. Centerview Partners is serving as financial adviser to Mindbody while Raymond James is doing likewise for Booker.
