Toronto-based Ecobee Inc, a maker of a smart Wi-Fi thermostat, has raised C$80 million ($61 million) in Series C funding. Energy Impact Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included Thomvest, Relay Ventures and the Amazon Alexa Fund.
San Francisco-based Atomwise, which uses artificial intelligence to help discover new medicines and agricultural compounds, has raised $45 million in funding. Monsanto Growth Ventures, DCVC and B Capital Group led the round with participation from Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, DFJ, Baidu Ventures, Tencent and Dolby Family Ventures.
New York City-based UiPath, a platform for enterprise robotic process automation, has raised $153 million in Series B funding. Accel led the round with participation from CapitalG, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Earlybird, Credo Ventures and Seedcamp.
Toronto-based ThoughtWire, the developer of the Ambiant IIoT platform, has secured $20 million in Series A financing. The investors included Yaletown Partners, BDC Capital, Round13 Capital, Epic Capital and Comerica.
Liquid 2 Ventures is seeking to raise $50 million for its second fund, according to an SEC filing. Based in San Francisco, Liquid 2 Ventures makes seed-stage investments in tech startups. General partners include NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Montana.
Leawood, Kansas-based C2FO, a working capital marketplace, has secured $100 million in funding. Allianz X and Mubadala Investment Company led the round with participation from return backers Temasek, Union Square Ventures and Mithril Capital.
Chinese big data tech company Wecash Technology Co. Ltd has raised $160 million in Series D financing. ORIX Asia Capital Ltd and SEA Group led the round with participation from SIG, Sagamore, Forebright, Lingfeng Capital and Hongdao Capital.
Sarah Cannon will be joining Index Ventures' San Francisco office as a partner, according to a spokesperson for the firm. Her appointment begins in May. Cannon will join Index Ventures from CapitalG, Alphabet's growth equity fund. She worked as a policy adviser on the National Economic Council at the White House during the Obama Administration.
Boulder, Colorado-based Redeam, a tech company that automates the way tours and attractions process tickets sold by third-party distributors, has secured $7.7 million in Series A funding. Vertical Venture Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included Thayer Ventures, JetBlue Technology Ventures, Tallwave Capital and Peninsula Ventures.
Chicago-based Paro, a future of finance work startup, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. Revolution Ventures led the round with participation from Global Founders Capital and Tom Williams.
