Dublin and San Francisco-based Drop, a smart kitchen company, has secured $8 million in Series A funding. Alsop Louie Partners led the round with participation from other investors that included Frontline and WI Harper. In addition to the funding, Stewart Alsop, a founder and lead partner at Alsop Louie Partners, has joined Drop's board of directors.
Auburn, Alabama-based Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc, a maker of generic drugs, has closed $11.5 million in financing. JW Asset Management LLC and Perceptive Advisors led the round.
Boulder, Colorado-based Alpin, a provider of SaaS monitoring and management tools for IT administrators, has raised $1 million in funding. Rockies Venture Club led the round with participation from other backers that included Nebraska Angels, Plains Angels, Keiretsu Capital and Techstars.
Nashville-based XOi Technologies, a provider of field service communication solutions, has raised $4.5 million in funding. Vocap Investment Partners led the round with participation from Nashville Capital Network.
LUX Fund Technology and Solutions, a business and technology solutions provider for the alternative asset industry, has raised $6 million in Series A financing. The backer was Credit Suisse Asset Management's NEXT Investors.
Los Angeles-based Genies, a developer of a smart emoji app, has raised $3 million in funding. The investors included Shawn Mendes and Russell Westbrook.
SparkLabs Global's fintech accelerator has appointed Sameer Chishty as a venture partner. Chishty is founder and chairman of Streeton Partners.
Los Angeles-based Beyond Meat, a producer of plant-based meat substitutes, has raised $55 million in funding. The investors included Jack and Suzy Welch, Thomas Middleditch, Honest Tea founder Seth Goldman and Candice Bergen.
Samuel D. Isaly, a founder and managing partner of OrbiMed Advisors, a healthcare-focused investment firm, is stepping down. A management committee comprised of Sven H. Borho, Carl L. Gordon and Jonathan T. Silverstein will replace Isaly as managing partner. Isaly founded OrbiMed in 1998.
Austin-based Overhaul, a transportation security technology company, has closed $4.5 million in funding. Abbey International Finance Group led the round.
