Hotel Engine, a hotel booking and management platform for business travel, has secured $16 million in Series A funding. Telescope Partners led the round.
Commvault has agreed to acquire Santa Clara, California-based Hedvig, an software-defined storage company, for a consideration of $225 million. Hedvig's backers include EDBI, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Atlantic Bridge Ventures, True Ventures and Vertex Ventures.
Montreal-based My Intelligence Machines, which provides a SAAS platform for analyzing omics data via different types of artificial intelligence, has secured C$2.6 million in seed funding. The investors were Anges Québec, Anges Québec Capital, Desjardins Capital, Consortium MEDTEQ, Real Ventures and StandUp Ventures. The capital infusion will be used to "develop so-called turnkey and integrated solutions enabling life scientists, without expertise in bioinformatics or data sciences, to stratify human, animal and plant populations." MIMS was founded in 2016 by Sarah Jenna, Mickaël Camus and Abdoulaye Baniré Diallo.
Boston-based Cogito, a provider of real-time emotional intelligence solutions, has raised $20 million in funding. The investors include New York Life Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Goldman Sachs Growth Equity.
Costa Mesa, California-based Happy Money, a fintech company, has secured $70 million in Series D funding. CMFG Ventures LLC, the venture capital entity of CUNA Mutual Group, led the round.
Silicon Valley-based Specific Diagnostics, a developer of in- vitro diagnostic systems for the detection and identification of microorganisms, has secured $12.5 million in funding. The investor was Telegraph Hill Partners.
Palo Alto, California-based Superside, an "always-on" design company, has secured $3.5 million in funding. Freestyle Capital led the round with participation from High Alpha Ventures, Y Combinator and Alliance Ventures.
Engage Mobilize, a cloud-based digital field management, procurement, and electronic ticketing platform built for the oil and gas industry, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A financing. Cottonwood Venture Partners led the round.
Berkeley, California-based Grabango, a checkout-free technology service provider to existing brick-and-mortar grocers and convenience store chains, has named Ryan Smith as vice president of product and engineering. Previously, Smith was vice president of product and engineering at Sight Machine. Grabango's backers include Propel Venture Partners, Ridge Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Commerce Ventures and Founders Fund.
BigID, a provider of data-centric personal data privacy and protection solutions, has raised $50 million in Series C funding. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round.
