Christophe Bourque will become a general partner at White Star Capital's new Toronto office, according to a Medium blog post. Bourque originally joined the firm's Montreal office two years ago. White Star opened its first Canadian office in Montreal in 2014. White Star Capital is a tech-focused early-stage venture firm that invests in North America and Europe.
Capcito Finance, a Swedish fintech company that automates loans and financing to companies, has raised SEK 74 million (about $7.6 million) in funding, according to a blog post. The investors included Schibsted Growth and Ventech.
Houston-based Sourcewater Inc, a provider of oilfield water intelligence, has secured $7.2 million in Series A funding. Bison Technologies led the round with participation from Marubeni Corporation and energy industry family offices in Houston, Midland, Dallas, and Oklahoma City.
Olivela Inc, a luxury fashion e-commerce platform, has raised $35 million in Series A financing. Morgan Stanley led the round.
South San Francisco-based Nkarta Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company focused on fighting cancer, has raised $114 million in Series B financing. Samsara BioCapital led the round.
Vancouver, British Columbia-based Terramera, a clean food technology provider, has raised US$45 million in Series B funding. Ospraie Ag Science and Seed2Growth Ventures led the round. The capital will be used to enable Terramera to scale its technology. In addition to the funding, Terramera has named Jeff Booth as board chair and Carl Casale, lead investor of Ospraie Ag Science, to its board of directors.
Ori Inc, a maker of robotic interior products and systems, has raised $20 million in Series B funding. The investors were Sidewalk Labs, Ingka Group, Geolo Capital and Khosla Ventures.
Dapix Inc, the company behind the development of the FIO Protocol, has secured $5.7 million in Series A funding. Binance Labs, the venture arm of global cryptocurrency exchange and blockchain ecosystem Binance, led the round.
Kaunas, Lithuania-based DappRadar, a platform for discovering and analyzing blockchain-based decentralized applications, has raised $2.33 million in seed funding, according to a Medium blog post. Naspers led the round with participation from Blockchain.com Ventures and Angel Invest Berlin.
Toronto-based PayBright, a fintech lending and payments provider, has raised $34 million in funding. The backer was goeasy Ltd. This transaction follows a recent fundraising led by the Canadian Business Growth Fund with participation from PayBright's return backers that included iA Financial Group. The total equity raised in the two transactions were $60 million.
