Santa Monica, California-based Earny, a personal finance service, has raised $9 million in Series A funding. Mayfield led the round with participation from Comcast Ventures and Science Inc.
Qvella, a Canadian molecular diagnostics company, has secured $20 million in Series B financing. The investors included RA Capital, Whitecap Venture Partners, Hatteras Ventures, Sands Capital and bioMérieux.
Miami-based Powerful, a food and beverage company, has raised $4 million from two separate funding rounds. The investors included Cambridge Companies SPG, River Hallow Partners and Gerber Finance.
Noodle Partners Inc, which helps colleges and universities expand access to and decrease the cost of online higher education, has raised about $14 million in Series A funding. Owl Ventures led the round.
Arlington, Virginia-based NS8, an ecommerce fraud prevention solutions provider, has raised $7.5 million in funding. Arbor Ventures led the round with participation from return investors TDF Ventures and Hanna Ventures.
ChemomAb, an Israeli bio-pharmaceutical start-up, has closed $10 million in funding. OrbiMed Israel and Peter Thiel led the round with participation from SBI Japan-Israel Innovation Fund and Milestone Venture.
Madison Reed, a hair color brand, has named David Stanko as vice president of technical design and education. Previously, Stanko worked at Redken 5th Avenue NYC, a L'Oreal division, where he was master colorist and brand ambassador. Madison Reed's backers include Comcast Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, True Ventures and Calibrate Ventures.
Indianapolis and London-based Outpost Medicine, a biopharmaceutical company focused on treating urologic and gastrointestinal disorders, has named Dr. Ian Mills as chief medical officer. Previously, Mills worked at Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Europe where he was head of clinical development. Outpost Medicine is backed by Frazier Healthcare Partners, Adams Street Partners, Novo Holdings A/S, Vivo Capital and Takeda Ventures.
Elsen, a platform-as-a-service company for large financial institutions, has raised $2.4 million in funding. Hyperplane Venture Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Accomplice and Launch Capital. In addition to the funding, Hyperplane Managing Partner Jack Klinck will join the company’s board of directors as chairman.
Tel Aviv-based Guardian Optical Technologies, an advanced 3D sensor developer, has raised $5.1 million in Series A funding. The investors were Maniv Mobility and Mirai Creation Fund.
