Madrid-based MedLumics, a medical device company, has named James Greene as CEO and Giovanni Leo to its board of directors. Previously, Greene worked at Seroba Lifesciences, a Dublin-based venture firm where he was a partner while Leo was vice president of research and development for St. Jude Medical. MedLumics' backers include Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners, Seroba Lifesciences, Innogest, Ysios and Caixa.
Silicon Valley-based Qool Therapeutics, a developer of a targeted temperature management system, has raised $8 million in funding. The investors were Zhongji Holdings LTD/Join Medical Technology, TAMCAP LLC, BrilliMedical International Corp., BioPacific Investors, Western Technology Investment and FundRx.
Silicon Valley-based NeoTribe Ventures, an early-stage venture firm, has raised $113.5 million for its debut fund, according to an SEC filing. The target is $130 million.
New York City-based Libra, a provider of financial software for the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry, has secured $7.8 million in Series A funding. The backers include Liberty City Ventures, XBTO, Boost VC and Lee Linden.
London-based synthetic biology startup LabGenius has secured $3.66 million in funding. Kindred Capital and Acequia Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included Backed VC, Beast Ventures, Berggruen Holdings Ltd and System.One.
London-based venture firm Balderton Capital has raised $375 million for its latest fund that will focus on European tech businesses. Fried Frank advised Balderton on the fund.
San Mateo, California-based Medeor Therapeutics Inc, a developer of personalized cellular immunotherapies, has raised $57 million in Series B financing. RA Capital Management led the round with participation from other investors that included Sofinnova Ventures, 6 Dimensions Capital, Vivo Capital and WuXi Healthcare Ventures. In conjunction with the financing, Dr. Peter Kolchinsky, a portfolio manager and managing director at RA Capital and Dr. Anand Mehra, general partner at Sofinnova Ventures, have joined the Medeor's board of directors.
Starwood Capital Group has agreed to acquire Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge Hotel from Orbis Hotel Group. The price of the acquisition is 75 million euros.
San Diego-based Biolinq, a digital health company, has raised $10 million in Series A financing. The investors included M Ventures, Hikma Ventures, Grey Sky Venture Partners, Three Leaf Ventures and LifeSci Venture Partners.
