San Francisco-based MissionU, a self-described college alternative that allows students to graduate debt-free, has raised $8.5 million in Series A funding. FirstMark Capital led the round with participation from First Round Capital, University Ventures, Box Group, Rethink Education, Learn Capital,  John Doerr and Omidyar Network.
Fenox Venture Capital and AsusTek Computer Inc have teamed up to launch a $50 million venture fund. The fund will focus on startups in the areas of artificial intelligence, internet of things, big data, cloud, AR/VR and other related technologies.
Baltimore-based Snag-A-Slip, an online boat slip reservation company, has raised $4.8 million in Series A financing. Claritas Capital led the round with participation from other investors that included TCP Venture Capital.
San Francisco-based Prellis Biologics, a human tissue engineering startup, has secured $1.8 million in seed funding. True Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Civilization Ventures and 415 Ventures.
St. Paul, Minnesota-based Spineology Inc, a provider of anatomy-conserving spinal technologies for surgeons and their patients, has raised $5 million in funding. The investor was Hermed Capital.
Santa Monica, California-based Happy Returns, a provider of in-person returns for online retailers, has raised $4 million in funding. Upfront Ventures led the round. In conjunction with the funding, Upfront Partner Greg Bettinelli has been added to Happy Returns' board of directors.
Cottonwood Heights, Utah-based Marketware, a provider of SaaS healthcare relationship technology, has secured $4.5 million in Series B funding. EPIC Ventures led the round with participation from Peak Ventures.
Santa Monica, California-based Camera IQ, a camera experience manager, has raised $2.3 million in funding, according to a blog post. Shasta Ventures led the round with participation from Presence Capital, Greycroft Tracker Fund, Brilliant Ventures and Act One.
Berlin-based Target Global, a venture firm, has raised 100 million euros for its inaugural early-stage fund. Target Global Early Stage Fund I will focus on companies in Europe and Israel.
Avi Networks has acquired San Francisco-based StacksWare, a provider of SaaS cloud management solutions. No financial terms were disclosed. According to Crunchbase, StacksWare was backed by Greylock Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
