Canada-based Finaeo, an insurtech platform for financial advisers, has raised $2.25 million in funding. Impression Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included 500 Startups, Robo Ventures and iGan Partners.
StageOne Ventures has closed its third oversubscribed fund at $110 million. StageOne Venture Capital Fund III's limited partners include "prominent investors" from Israel, the U.S. and Europe. StageOne focuses on B2B software and next-generation information technology infrastructure.
Chicago-based ForeverCar, a provider of car repair protection plans, has raised $15 million in funding. The investors included CUNA Mutual Group's venture capital arm CMFG Ventures and Method Capital LLC.
Stockholm-based Apica, a provider of products that test and monitor the performance of software applications, is raising $12 million in funding. Oxx is leading the round with participation from other investors that included Nordic VC Industrifonden, SEB Venture Capital and KTH Chalmers Capital.
Quebec and New York City-based Classcraft, an education tech startup, has raised $2.8 million in funding. Whitecap Venture Partners led the round.
Waltham, Massachusetts-based Entasis Therapeutics, a developer of anti-infective products, has raised $31.9 million in funding. The investors were Pivotal bioVenture Partners, Sofinnova Ventures and TPG Biotech. In conjunction with the funding, Dr. Tracy Saxton, managing partner at Pivotal, Dr. Heather Behanna, a principal at Sofinnova, and Dr. Heather Preston, a partner at TPG, have been added to the Entasis board of directors.
New York City-based Pillar Technologies, real-time risk management platform for general contractors, has raised $2.75 million in seed funding. The investors were XL Innovate, Hyperplane VC and Techstars Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Martha Notaras, a partner at XL Innovate, will join the Pillar board of directors.
London-based Nightstar, a retinal gene therapy company, has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be sold as well as the stock's pricing terms have yet to be set. Nightstar is planning on listing the stock on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "NITE." Jefferies LLC, Leerink Partners LLC and BMO Capital Markets Corp are the lead underwriters. Nightstar is backed by Wellington Management Company, Redmile Group, Syncona and New Enterprise Associates.
GetInsured has acquired ACAExpress.com, a platform for Affordable Care Act health plan enrollment for consumers and brokers. No financial terms were disclosed. GetInsured is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Trinity Ventures, Partech International, River Street Management, Vocap Investment Partners and Noro-Moseley Partners.
London-based SuperAwesome, a marketing platform for kids, has raised $21 million in Series B funding, according to a blog post on its site. The investor was Mayfair Equity Partners.
