Cloud4Wi said Tuesday that it has secured $4 million in Series A funding from Italian venture firm United Ventures. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used for international expansion. Headquartered in Italy with an office in San Francisco, Cloud4Wi is a provider of next generation cloud Wi-Fi services.
AltSchool said Tuesday that it has closed $33 million in Series A financing. Founders Fund and Andreessen Horowitz led the round with participation from investors that included First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, Learn Capital and Omidyar Network. Headquartered in San Francisco, AltSchool is a network of micro-schools that offers personalized education for children.
FunPlus has closed $74 million in funding. The investors were Orchid Asia Group, GSR Ventures and Steamboat Ventures. Headquartered in Beijing, China, with offices in San Francisco and Vancouver, FunPlus is a mobile social gaming company.
RadPad said Tuesday that it has received $1 million in financing. The investors included Deep Fork Capital and Post Investments. Headquartered in Los Angeles, RadPad is a photo-based mobile apartment rental marketplace.
AbilTo said Tuesday that it has raised $6 million in Series B financing. BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners and Sandbox Industries led the round with participation from .406 Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Tom Hawes, managing director at Sandbox Industries, has been added to AbilTo's board of directors. Based in New York City, AbilTo is a provider of behavioral health programs that help adults overcome mild and moderate depression associated with medical events and life transitions.
GaN Systems has hired Jim Witham as CEO. Girvan Patterson and John Robert, the company's co-founders, will remain in their current positions as president and chief technical officer, respectively. Prior to joining GaN Systems, Witham worked at Neoconix where he served as president and CEO. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, GaN Systems is a producer of gallium nitride power switching semiconductors. It is backed by Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and RockPort Capital.
ITS Compliance has raised $5.75 million in funding. First Analysis and Argentum led the round. According to the company, the capital will be used for growth and expansion. In addition to the funding, Jim Macdonald and Daniel Raynor, a managing partner of Argentum, will join ITS's board of directors. Headquartered in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, ITS Compliance is a provider of compliance, safety and asset management solutions for truck fleets.
French hotel booking app VeryLastRoom has secured $2.1 million in financing. A Plus Finance, Extend Capital and Sigma Gestion led the round.
Layer3 TV has secured $21 million in Series A funding. The lead investors were North Bridge Venture Partners and Evolution Media Growth Partners, which is a joint venture between TPG Growth and Evolution Media Capital. In addition to the funding, Jamie Goldstein of North Bridge has been added to Layer3 TV's board of directors. Based in Boston, Layer3 TV is a next generation cable provider.
Teabox has closed $1 million in seed funding. The investors included Accel Partners India and Horizen Ventures. Based in Singapore and India, Teabox is a tea delivery startup.
