Motor technology developer EcoMotors has acquired Katech. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Michigan, Katech is a maker of advanced engines and powertrains. Also, EM has named Tony Mannarino as CEO of Katech. EM is backed by Khosla Ventures, Bill Gates and Braemar Energy Ventures.
SiNode Systems has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Energy Foundry. Based in Chicago, SiNode Systems is an energy startup.
Ulmon has received an undisclosed amount of funding from Global Founders Capital. Based in Vienna, Austria, Ulmon is a mobile travel platform.
According to a post on its blog, Premise has raised $11 million in Series B funding. The Social+Capital Partnership led the round with participation from return backers Google Ventures, Harrison Metal, Andreessen Horowitz and Bowery Capital. Also, Chamath Palihapitiya of Social+Capital has been added to the Premise board. Tipbit has raised $4 million in Series A funding. Ignition Partners led the round. Based in Seattle and San Francisco, Tipbit, which is also backed by Andreessen Horowitz, is an email app.
Azimo has received $10 million in Series A funding. Greycroft Partners led the round with participation from Accion's Frontier Investments Group, eVentures, TA Ventures, RI Digital Ventures and KRW Schindler Investments. In conjunction with the funding, Kamran Ansari of Greycroft Partners, will join Azimo's board of directors. Based in the UK, Azimo is a digital money transfer startup.
Business crowdfunding platform Fundable has acquired LaunchRock. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Walnut, Calif., LaunchRock helps startups launch their businesses. Its backers include 500 Startups, Venture51, Quotidian Ventures and Trinity Ventures.
Banjo said Thursday that it has closed $16 million in Series B financing. Balderton Capital led the round with participation from BlueRun Ventures and Vegas Tech Fund. Headquartered in Redwood City, Calif., Banjo is a social discovery app.
Australian edtech startup Smart Sparrow has raised $10 million in funding. Yellow Brick Capital led the round with participation from previous backers OneVentures and Uniseed.
