Speek has closed $5.1 million in Series A funding. The investors included 500 Startups, Edward Norton, Crystal Tech Fund, CNF Investments and Middleland Capital. Based in Ashburn, Virginia, Speek is a provider of free and visual web and mobile conference calling solutions.
Top10.com has secured $8 million in Series B funding. Balderton Capital led the round with participation from return backers Accel Partners, Forward Partners and Idealab. Based in the UK, Top10.com is a hotel metasearch site.
DueDil said Monday that it has closed $17 million in Series B financing. Oak Investment Partners led the round with participation from Notion Capital and Passion Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Oak Investment Partners will be represented on the DueDil board. Headquartered in London, DueDil is a business discovery platform.
RainDance Technologies said Monday that it has raised $16.5 million in Series E financing. The investors in this round included GE Ventures and Northgate Capital. Based in Billerica, Mass., RainDance Technologies is a developer of molecular testing of complex diseases.
Avalara has added Doug Burgum to its board of directors. Currently, Burgum is a founding partner of Arthur Ventures, a Fargo, North Dakota-based VC firm focused on the software sector. Headquartered in Bainbridge Island, Washington, Avalara is a provider of cloud-based sales tax and compliance automation solutions. Its backers include Battery Ventures, Sageview Capital and Arthur Ventures.
Rexahn Pharmaceuticals has named Mark P. Carthy to its board of directors. Carthy is the managing partner of Orion Equity Partners, a healthcare venture firm. Headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, Rexahn Pharmaceuticals is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on treating cancer.
According to an SEC S-1 form, GrubHub has filed for a $100 million IPO. Citigroup and Morgan Stanley will serve as lead underwriters. Based in Chicago, GrubHub is an online and mobile food-ordering service. It merged with Seamless last year. GrubHub's past backers include Origin Ventures, Leo Capital Holdings, Amicus Capital, Benchmark, DAG Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, Mesirow Financial and Greenspring Associates.
According to the Wall Street Journal, HubSpot is working with Morgan Stanley on an IPO it plans to launch this year. The publication reported that other banks will be involved in the offering. Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., HubSpot is a marketing software provider. Its backers include General Catalyst, Matrix Partners, Scale Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, Google Ventures, Salesforce.com, Altimeter Capital, Cross Creek Capital and Charles River Ventures.
Abingworth has closed $375 million for its tenth life sciences fund. Asante Capital Group was the placement agent. Based in London, Abingworth is a VC firm focused on the life sciences and healthcare sector.
Bowman Power said Friday that it has received $5 million in funding. The investors included return backers Octopus Investments, Fjord Capital and several angel investors. According to the company, the capital will be used for global expansion. Based in the UK, Bowman Power is a provider of waste heat recovery solutions.
