ADMA Biologics said Thursday that it has closed a loan commitment of up to $15 million from Hercules Technology Growth Capital. Headquartered in Ramsey, NJ, ADMA Biologics is a late-stage pharmaceutical company that focuses on treating and preventing certain infectious diseases.
Cybersecurity firm Venafi has hired Tammy Moskites as its chief information security officer. Previously, Moskites worked at Time Warner Cable and The Home Depot where she led security teams at both companies. Venafi is backed by Foundation Capital, Pelion Venture Partners and Origin Partners.
XipLink has received $1.5 million from Toronto VC firm BEST Funds. According to the company, the capital will be used for sales and marketing efforts in addition to product development. Headquartered in Montreal, XipLink is a provider of wireless products.
Mobile payment solution provider Square has acquired BookFresh, the latter announced in a blog post on its site. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in San Francisco, BookFresh is an online scheduling service for small business owners. According to a blog post on its site, Collaborative Fund has raised $33 million for its second fund. The pool's LPs includes Tom McMurray, a former general partner at Sequoia Capital. ZEFR said Wednesday that it has received $30 million in financing. Institutional Venture Partners led the round with participation from previous backers U.S. Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures, First Round Capital and Richmond Park Partners. Concurrent with the funding, Dennis Phelps, a general partner at IVP, has been added to ZEFR's board of directors. Headquartered in Venice, Calif., ZEFR is a platform that builds social marketing and rights management software for online video.
Opternative has closed $1 million in seed funding. The lead investors were Tribeca Venture Partners and Chicago Ventures. Based in Chicago, Opternative is an online eye exam developer.
Kahuna said Wednesday that it has closed $11 million in Series A funding from Sequoia Capital. Also, Omar Hamoui, a partner at Sequoia and founder of AdMob, has been added to Kahuna’s board of directors. Based in Mountain View, Calif., Kahuna is a provider of mobile marketing automation solutions.
EdSurge has closed $1.5 million in Series A funding. GSV Capital Corp led the round with participation from NewSchools Venture Fund, LearnCapital and various angel investors. In addition to the financing, Matthew Hanson of GSV Capital has been added to the EdSurge board. EdSurge is a news site covering education technology.
CipherCloud said Wednesday that it has hired Bob West as chief trust officer. Previously, West was founder and CEO of Echelon One. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., CipherCloud is a provider of cloud information protection solutions. It is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures and T-Venture.
