Crowdfunding platform ProHatch has received seed funding from The Pavonis Group. No financial terms were disclosed. In addition to the financing, Mark Kingston, managing partner of Pavonis, will join ProHatch’s board of directors.
Docker said Tuesday that it has hired Scott Johnston as its senior vice president of product. Previously, Johnston worked at Puppet Labs where he served as VP of marketing and strategy. Based in San Francisco, Docker runs an open source project used by cloud developers and operators to automate the deployment of apps. Its backers include Greylock Partners, Insight Venture Partners, Benchmark and Trinity Ventures.
CounterTack said Tuesday that it has closed its Series B round with an additional $3 million, bringing the tally to $15 million. The investors included Goldman Sachs, Fairhaven Capital and Siemens' venture capital unit. Based in Waltham, Mass., CounterTack is a provider of cyber security solutions.
Cheetah Medical said Tuesday that it has closed $9 million in funding. Fletcher Spaght Ventures led the round with participation from Springfield Investment Management, MVM Life Science Partners, Robert Bosch Venture Capital and Ascension Health Ventures. Based in Newton Center, Mass., Cheetah Medical is a provider of non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring solutions.
Casper said Tuesday that it has secured $1.6 million in seed funding. Lerer Ventures led the round with participation from Norwest Venture Partners, Crosslink Partners, Vaizra Investments and Correlation Ventures. Based in New York City, Casper is a mattress maker.
Clarity Software said Tuesday that it has received undisclosed funding from North Bridge. According to Clarity, the capital will be used for personnel hiring, expansion and sales and marketing. Headquartered in Madison, Conn., Clarify is a provider of document management and communications delivery solutions for the health insurance sector.
The Trade Desk said Tuesday that it has raised $20 million in Series B funding. Hermes Growth Partners led the round with participation from return backer IA Ventures. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used for international expansion. Also, Alex Kayyal of Hermes Growth Partners has been added to The Trade Desk's board of directors. Headquartered in Ventura, Calif., The Trade Desk is a global demand-side platform.
Rovi Corp has agreed to buy Veveo. The transaction is for approximately $62 million in cash at the closing and up to $7 million in additional cash payments based on meeting certain agreed-upon milestones. Headquartered in Andover, Mass., Veveo is a provider of personalized entertainment discovery solutions. Its backers include Matrix Partners, Norwest Venture Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners.
D.light said Tuesday that it has closed $11 million in Series C funding. The investors included DFJ, Omidyar Network, Nexus India Capital, Gray Ghost Ventures, Acumen Fund and Garage Technology Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, both Mohanjit Jolly of DFJ and Matt Bannick of Omidyar Network have joined D.light's board of directors. Headquartered in San Francisco, D.light is a provider of solar lighting and power products for people without access to electricity.
IBM said Monday that it has inked an agreement to acquire Cloudant. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Boston, Cloudant is a provider of distributed database-as-a-service. Its backers include Y Combinator, Avalon Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Samsung Ventures, Toba Capital, Devonshire Investors and Rackspace.
