Global financial services firm BBVA has agreed to acquire Simple for $117 million. Based in Portland, Oregon, Simple is a provider of digital banking services. Its backers included SV Angel, Anthemis Group, Neu Venture Capital, Lerer Ventures and First Round Capital.
GC Aesthetics said Friday that it has raised $40 million in financing. The investors were OrbiMed, Montreux Equity Partners and Oyster Capital. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used for international expansion, product development and launches. Based in Dublin, GC Aesthetics is a maker of breast implants.
Magisto said Friday that it has closed $2 million from Mail Ru Group. Magisto is a cloud-based service for creating personal movies on mobile devices. Its backers include Horizons Ventures, Magma Venture Partner, Qualcomm Ventures and SanDisk Ventures.
General Fusion said Thursday that it has named Nathan R. Gilliland as CEO. Previously, Gilliland worked at Harvest Power where he served as president and co-founder. Based in British Columbia, General Fusion is a provider of fusion energy. Its backers include Energy Venture Capital, Bezos Expeditions, Cenovus Energy and Sustainable Development Technology Canada.
Cylance said Thursday that it has raised $20 million in Series B funding. The investors included Blackstone, Khosla Ventures and Fairhaven Capital. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Cylance is a provider of security products and services.
A10 Networks has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be offered as well as the price range have yet to be set. Morgan Stanley, BofA Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan and RBC Capital Markets are the lead underwriters. Based in San Jose, Calif., A10 Networks is a provider of application networking solutions. Its backers include Mitsui Ventures, Triton Ventures, Harbinger Ventures, Enspire Capital and Summit Partners.
According to a blog post by CEO and founder Sarah Lacy, PandoDaily, the tech news site, has just secured $1.2 million in Series A funding. Jumpstart Foundry led the round with participation from Base Ventures, Vegas Tech Fund, Accel Partners, Founders Fund and angel investor Zach Nelson. To read more about the funding, visit here.
Smarter Remarketer said Thursday that it has closed $7 million in financing. Battery Ventures led the round. In conjunction with the funding, Neeraj Agrawal, general partner at Battery Ventures, will join Smarter Remarketer's board. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Smarter Remarketer is a customer intelligence platform.
Movable Ink said Thursday that it has opened its first international office in London. Matthew Potter, vice president of UK and EMEA for Movable Ink, will head the new office. Based in New York City, Movable Ink is a provider of email marketing technology. It is backed by Intel Capital, Contour Venture Partners, Metamorphic Ventures, ff Venture Capital and Kima Ventures.
Boulder, Colorado-based cleantech company e-Chromic Technologies has raised $600,000 in Series Seed financing. Amplifier Ventures led the round.
