Strevus said Wednesday that it has secured $5.6 million in Series A funding. Blumberg Capital led the round with participation from U.S. Venture Partners and previous undisclosed angel investors. According to Strevus, the capital infusion will be used for growth plans. Concurrent with the financing, David Blumberg of Blumberg Capital has joined the firm's board of directors. Headquartered in San Francisco, Strevus is a provider of risk and compliance management solutions for financial service institutions.
Versartis has closed $55 million in Series E financing. The investors include return backers Sofinnova Ventures, Aisling Capital, New Leaf Venture Partners and Advent Life Sciences. Based in Redwood City, Calif., Versartis is an endocrine-focused biopharmaceutical company focused on treating growth hormone deficiency.
Brand Embassy has raised $1 million in seed funding. The investors were Rockaway Capital and Spread Capital. Also, the firm has opened six new offices worldwide, which include the U.S., Dubai and Latin America. Brand Embassy is a social customer care platform.
CIT GAP Funds has made an undisclosed investment in Encore. Based in Rosslyn, Virginia, Encore is a provider of social alerts to marketers.
Postmates has closed an additional $16 million in Series B financing. Spark Capital led the latest round. In addition to the financing, Spark Capital's Nabeel Hyatt, will join the company's board of directors. Headquartered in San Francisco, Postmates is a provider of on-demand delivery solutions.
Duolingo said Tuesday that it has raised $20 million in funding. Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers led the round. Based in Pittsburgh, Duolingo is a language learning platforms. Its backers include Union Square Ventures, NEA and actor Ashton Kutcher.
Socialbakers said Tuesday that it has secured $26 million in Series C financing. Index Ventures led the round with participation from previous backer Earlybird. Socialbakers is a social media analytics company.
FireLayers said Tuesday that it has received undisclosed funding from YL Ventures. WIth offices in San Francisco and Israel, FireLayers is a provider of security solutions for companies' cloud applications and data.
EnModus has secured 1.5 million pounds in seed funding. The investors were Andromeda Capital Partners and Finance Wales. As a result of the financing, EnModus has relocated to a larger space in Chepstow, Wales. Based in the UK, EnModus is a smart home technology company.
According to a blog post on its site, Little Bird has raised $1.7 million in seed funding. The Oregon Angel Fund led the round with participation from unidentified new and previous backers.
