Eagle Pharmaceuticals launched its IPO after having priced its offering of 3,350,000 shares at $15 per share. The stock began trading Wednesday on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol “EGRX." Piper Jaffray & Co. and William Blair & Company are the lead underwriters. Based in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, Eagle Pharmaceuticals is a specialty pharmaceutical company.
Tapiture said Wednesday that it has closed $2.25 million in seed funds. JUMP Investors led the round. In conjunction with the funding, Randall Kaplan, co-founder of Akamai Technologies, has joined Tapiture's board of directors. Headquartered in Venice, Calif., Tapiture is a social curation and ecommerce platform.
Welltok, a Denver-based health optimization company, said Wednesday that it has closed $22.1 million in Series C funding. New Enterprise Associates led the round with participation from IBM, Qualcomm Ventures, Emergence Capital Partners, InterWest Partners, Miramar Venture Partners and Okapi Venture Capital.
Silicon Valley-based private equity firm Accelerated Venture Partners has opened an office in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong entity, known as Accelerated Ventures Limited, will provide Asian companies funding and a platform that helps them go public.
YEVVO has secured $3.7 million in Series A funding. Aleph led the round with participation from Entrée Capital. The financing comes on the heels of a $500,000 angel round. Based in San Francisco, YEVVO is a live mobile video platform.
Axine Water Technologies said Wednesday that it has raised $5.6 million in Series A financing round. The investors included The Roda Group, Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital and BDC Venture Capital. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Axine Water Technologies develops chemical-free solutions that treat pollutants in industrial wastewater.
Response Biomedical Corp. has received a $2.5 million loan from Silicon Valley Bank.  Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Response is a maker of on-site diagnostic tests.
According to a blog post on its site, Menlo Ventures has named Tyler Sosin as a principal. Sosin started his career as an analyst at Menlo. Most recently, he worked at Accel Partners in London where he served as an associate. To read the announcement, visit here.
Sideband Networks said Wednesday that it has closed $6 million in Series A funding. The investors were not named. Also, Sideband has hired Roger Choplin as vice president of engineering. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Sideband is a provider of network performance monitoring solutions.
RatedPeople.com has secured 6.5 million pounds in pre-IPO funding. The investors included Frog Capital and Western Technology Investment. N+1 Singer served as the advisor on the transaction. Based in the UK, RatedPeople.com connects homeowners with local tradesmen.
