NephroGenex launched its IPO after pricing its offering of 3.1 million shares at $12 per share. The stock began trading Tuesday on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "NRX." Aegis Capital Corp is the lead underwriter. Headquartered in Research Triangle Park, NC, NephroGenex is a pharmaceutical company focused on treating kidney disease. Its backers include Care Capital, BioStratum and Vanderbilt University Office of Investments.
Amber Road has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be offered as well as the pricing terms have yet to be set. The company does plan on trading the stock on the NYSE. Stifel, Nicolaus & Company will serve as the lead underwriter. Headquartered in East Rutherford, NJ, Amber Road is a provider of global trade management solutions. It's backers include Cross Atlantic Capital Partners, Updata Partners, Goldman Sachs and NJTC Investment Fund.
Mallinckrodt plc has agreed to acquire Cadence Pharmaceuticals for $14 per share or approximately $1.3 billion. Deutsche Bank Securities is advising Mallinckrodt on the transaction while Lazard and Centerview Partners are advising Cadence Pharmaceuticals. Based in San Diego, Cadence is a biopharmaceutical company. Its backers include Domain Associates, Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Wellington Management, Versant Ventures, Bay City Capital and NEA.
SwipeToSpin, a portfolio company of StartFast Venture Accelerator, has received an undisclosed amount of VC funding. The investors were not named although according to the company, they include VC funds, private equity funds and various angel investors from New York City and upstate New York. SwipeToSpin is a provider of automated 3D content creation tools for mobile devices and the web.
Integral Ad Science, a provider of advertising intelligence for digital media buyers and sellers, has acquired Simplytics. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in the UK, Simplytics is a mobile ad server and analytics platform. Integral Ad Science's backers include August Capital, Founder Collective, Atlas Venture and Pelion Venture Partners.
Data Point Capital has named Len Schlesinger as a special advisor. Previously, Schlesinger served as the president of Babson College. Based in Boston, Data Point Capital is an internet-focused VC firm.
Tsai Capital Corp., a long/short global equity manager in New York City, said Tuesday that it has launched Tsai Ventures. A seed and early-stage VC arm of Tsai Capital, Tsai Ventures will focus on the finance, media and travel sectors.
Crowdfunder has closed $1 million in seed funding. Investors included 500 Startups / 500 Mexico and K5 Ventures. Based in Los Angeles, Crowdfunder is a business crowdfunding platform.
Telegraph Hill Partners has named Dr. Paul D. Grossman as a venture partner. Previously, Grossman worked at Life Technologies where he served as head of global strategy and corporate development. Based in San Francisco and San Diego, THP is a VC and growth equity firm that invests in life science and healthcare companies.
Primary Data has raised $60 million in Series B funding. The investors included Mercato Partners, Accel Partners, Battery Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Pelion Venture Partners. Based in Salt Lake City, Primary Data is a provider of software-defined data center technologies.
