Digital lifestyle company HowAboutWe.com said Wednesday that it has acquired Nerve.com. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in New York, Nerve.com is a lifestyle and dating site. HowAboutWe.com's backers include Founder Collective, ff Venture Capital, High Line Venture Partners, RRE Ventures and Khosla Ventures.
Origami Logic said Wednesday that it has closed $15 million in Series B financing. Jafco Ventures led the round with participation from existing investors Accel Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners. In addition to the funding, Jafco Ventures' Jeb Miller, will join Origami Logic’s board of directors. Based in Menlo Park, Calif., Origami Logic is a provider of marketing intelligence solutions.
Mercatus has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding. Trepp closed the round that was initially led by Vision Ridge Partners. Other investors included Augment Ventures and Shah Capital. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., Mercatus is a solutions provider for the energy finance sector.
Fluidigm Corp. has agreed to acquire DVS Sciences for a consideration of approximately $207.5 million in cash and stock.  Piper Jaffray & Co. advised Fluidigm on the transaction while Jefferies advised DVS. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., DVS Sciences is a maker of bioanalytical solutions. Its backers included 5AM Ventures, Mohr Davidow Ventures and Pfizer Venture Investments.
Flat World Education has received $9.5 million in financing. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round with participation from existing investors Valhalla Partners, Tribeca Venture Partners, Penguin Random House Holdings and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments. Based in Washington, D.C., Flat World Education is a provider of learning solutions.
According to an announcement on its site, blogging platform Medium has received funding in a round led by Greylock Partners. No financial terms were disclosed although some outlets report the amount to be $25 million. In conjunction with the funding, Greylock's Josh Elman and David Sze will join Medium's board. ThinkHR, which is backed by Bundy Ventures, said Wednesday that it has acquired HR That Works. No financial terms were disclosed. Also, as a result of the transaction, Don Phin, founder of HRTW, will join ThinkHR as vice president of strategic solutions. HRTW is an HR platform.
Digital media brand Daily Secret said Wednesday that it has received Series B funding. No financial terms were disclosed although some outlets report the amount to be $1.25 million. PanAfrican Investment Co., which was founded by Richard Parsons and Ronald Lauder, was the lead investor. Return backers Greycroft Partners and eVentures also participated in the round.
Guardly said Wednesday that it has closed $1.45 million in seed financing. Freestyle Capital led the round with participation from Golden Venture Partners and MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund. Based in Toronto, Guardly is a provider of mobile safety solutions.
Accelerator Corp. has appointed Thong Q. Le as its new CEO. Le replaces Carl Weissman, the company's founding CEO, who is now a senior advisor. Previously, Le worked at WRF Capital, the VC arm of Washington Research Foundation, serving as a managing director. Based in Seattle, Accelerator Corp. is a biotechnology investment firm.
