Qubell said Tuesday that it has received $1.8 million in financing. The investors were Benhamou Global Ventures and Icon Venture Partners. Headquartered in Menlo Park, Calif., Qubell is a provider of automated application deployment and configuration management for web-scale applications.
Brainbees Solutions Pvt Ltd has raised $15 million in Series C funding. Vertex Venture Management led the round with participation from IDG Ventures India and SAIF Partners. In conjunction with the funding, Vertex's Joo Hock Chua will join Manik Arora from IDG Ventures and Ravi Adusumalli from SAIF Partners on Brainbees' board. Based in India, Brainbees operates an online store for infant and baby products.
General Catalyst Partners has named Donald Fischer as a venture partner. Prior to joining the firm, Fischer worked at Greylock Partners. With offices in Cambridge, Mass., Palo Alto, Calif., and New York City, General Catalyst Partners is a VC firm that makes early stage and growth equity investments.
Adallom said Tuesday that it has closed $15 million in Series B funding. Index Ventures led the round with participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital Israel. Also, Index Ventures' Shardul Shah has joined Adallom's board of directors. Headquartered in Menlo Park, Calif., Adallom is a Software-as-a-Service security company.
Berlin-based Earlybird Venture Capital has raised more than $110 million in the initial close of its new Digital East Fund. The pool's target is $130 million and its focus is on tech companies in the Turkey and CEE markets. The fund's' LPs include the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Fund, the International Finance Corp. and Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative.
Early-stage VC firm Inventus Capital Partners said Friday that it has raised $106 million for its second fund. The pool will focus on companies in the consumer and business software and tech sectors.
IBM has acquired Fiberlink. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Blue Bell, Penn., Fiberlink, which was backed by Edison Ventures, is a provider of mobility management solutions.
EverFi has opened its new headquarters in Washington, D.C. The firm is also opening new offices in Chicago and Boston. An education technology company, EverFi is backed by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, Rethink Education, New Enterprise Associates and Tomorrow Ventures, the investment arm of Google Chairman investment Eric Schmidt.
According to VentureWire, Pittsburgh-based Plextronics has filed for bankruptcy. The outlet reported that existing investor Solvay SA has made a $32.6 million buyout offer for the printed electronics developer. Plextronics's backers include Applied Ventures, Birchmere Ventures , Draper Triangle Ventures, Firelake Capital Management, Innovation Works, Newlin Investment Co. and Solvay North America Investments.
Fortune reported that Concert Pharmaceuticals has filed for a $74.75 million IPO. The company plans on listing the stock on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol "CNCE." UBS and Wells Fargo are the lead underwriters. Based in Lexington, Mass., Concert Pharmaceuticals produces drugs that treat spasticity and kidney disease. Its backers nclude Three Arch Partners, TVM Capital, GlaxoSmithKline, Brookside Capital, Skyline Ventures, Fidelity Investments, Greylock Partners and Flagship Ventures.
