Evocalize said Thursday that it has closed $3 million in Series A financing from Madrona Venture Group. Based in Seattle, Evocalize is a customer conversation platform provider.
OTI Greentech Group AG said Wednesday that it has closed $1.5 million in euros. Green Gateway Fund led the round. Based in Switzerland, OTI Greentech Group is a cleantech engineering company.
TechCrunch reported that LA-based tech startup accelerator Amplify has raised $8 million for its second fund. Investors include Accel, Greycroft, Siemer Ventures, Deep Fork Capital and Karlin Ventures. Amplify was launched by Greycroft venture partner Paul Bricault and Jeff Solomon.
Bitcasa said Wednesday that it has hired Joe Lyons as its new vice president of business development. Previously, Lyons worked at Amazon Web Services where he served as senior manager of global storage business development. Headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., Bitcasa is a provider of cloud storage solutions. Its backers include Horizons Ventures, Pelion Venture Partners, Samsung Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz.

According to The Times of India, financial services portal BankBazaar.com has closed a little over $13 million (Rs 80 crore) in funding. Sequoia Capital led the round with participation from Walden International.
San Francisco-based mobile start-up Nextbit Systems has closed $18 million in Series A funding. Accel Partners and Google Ventures led the round. Also, as a result of the transaction, Google Ventures' Rich Miner and Accel's Rich Wong are joining Nextbit's board of directors.
Contently said Wednesday that it has raised $9 million in Series B funding. The investors were Sigma Prime, Sigma West, Lightbank, Contour Ventures and David Lerner. According to the company, the capital will be used for growth and expansion. Based in New York City, Contently is a marketplace that connects journalists with publishers.
Venga has secured $1 million in Series A funding. Militello Capital led the round with participation from investors that included Think Food Group and Big Red Ventures. Based in Washington, D.C., Venga is a provider of guest management software for the restaurant industry.
Security solutions provider Confer has raised $8 million in Series A funding. The investors were Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners. According to the company, the capital infusion will be used for product development and marketing and sales expansion efforts.
