StrongLoop has closed $8 million in Series A funding. Shasta Ventures and Ignition Partners were the lead investors. Also, the company has named Issac Roth as CEO. And, Jason Pressman of Shasta Ventures and Nick Sturiale of Ignition Partners have joined StrongLoop's board. Based in San Mateo, Calif., StrongLoop is the maker of the Node.js. software platform.
App Annie said Wednesday that it has secured $15 million in funding. Sequoia Capital was the lead investor. Existing investors IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners, e.ventures and Infinity Venture Partners also participated in the round. In conjunction with the funding, Tim Lee, a partner at Sequoia Capital and Alan Gould, CEO of uSamp, join App Annie's board. App Annie is a provider of market data for apps.
Bright.com said Wednesday that it has closed $14 million in Series B funding. Toba Capital was the lead investor. Passport Capital's John Burbank also participated in the round. Based in San Francisco, Bright.com is an employment website.
Stackdriver said Wednesday that it has received $10 million in Series B financing. The lead investor was Flybridge Capital Partners. Existing investor Bain Capital Ventures also participated in the round. In addition to the funding, Chip Hazard, a general partner at Flybridge Capital Partners, will join Stackdriver’s board. Based in Boston, Stackdriver is a provider of intelligent management for cloud-powered applications.
Blue Jeans Network said Wednesday that it has closed $50 million in new funding. Battery Ventures was the lead investor. Return backers Accel Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Norwest Venture Partners also participated in the financing. According to the company, the capital will be used for market expansion and product innovation. Headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., Blue Jeans Network is a provider of video communication services.
Ubiquigent Limited said Wednesday that it has raised £0.5 million (almost $800,000) in funding. The investors were IP Group plc and the Scottish Investment Bank, the investment division of Scottish Enterprise. Based in Dundee, Scotland, Ubiquigent Limited is a provider of ubiquitin cell-signalling system drug discovery services.
Kiosked said Wednesday that it has received an additional $6.9 million in funding. Kevin Wall of Craton Equity Partners and John Lindfors, a partner at Digital Sky Technologies, led the round. In conjunction with the funding, both Wall and Lindfors will join Kiosked's board of directors. Kiosked is a platform that links digital content and images to online stores.
Zipments said Monday that it has raised $2.25 million in seed funding. FirstMark Capital and Huron River Ventures were the lead investors. The Windquest Group, New York City Economic Development Corporation, Chicago Ventures and Robert Safrata, CEO at Novex Couriers, also participated in the round. Based in New York City, Zipments is a provider of same-day local delivery services.
Sol Voltaics said Tuesday that it has closed $15.6 million in funding. Norway-based investment firm Umoe led the round. In addition to the funding, Sol Voltaics has named Thomas Moe Borseth of Umoe and Kang Sun, former CEO of JA Solar and CEO of Amprius, to the board. Based in Lund, Sweden, Sol Voltaics is a maker of nanomaterials for solar panels. It is backed by Foundation Asset Management, Industrifonden, Nano Future Invest, Provider Venture, Scatec and Teknoinvest.
Simplilearn said Tuesday that it has received $10 million in Series B funding. The investors were Helion Venture Partners and Kalaari Capital. Khetal Advisors aided Simplilearn in this transaction. Simplilearn is an online learning platform for working professionals.
