NewsWhip has raised $1 million in seed funding, the company announced today in a blog post on its site. Return backers Hal Philipp of Meridian Growth Capital and Shane Naughton of Inundata participated in the round as did new investors AIB Seed Capital Fund, Enterprise Ireland and Hannes Smarason, former CEO of Icelandair and CBO of deCODE. The company which is based in Dublin, Ireland and will be opening an office in New York City this month, is an aggregator of English-language news stories around the world. Luxembourg-based private equity firm Wychwood Capital Partners has invested $1 million in Sportslobster.com. Based in the UK, Sportslobster is a sports social network.
Dots said Friday that it has received $51 million in refinancing from Salus Capital Partners. A portfolio company of Irving Capital, Dots is a fashion retailer.
Zynstra said Thursday that it has closed $3.8 million in Series A funding. Octopus Investments was the lead investor. Richard Brennan, former EVP of global marketing at Orange Group, Tom Vari, former CIO of cable at Rogers Communications and Zynstra Chairman Jon Craton also participated in the round. Based in Bath, UK, Zynstra is a provider of hybrid cloud solutions for small to medium-sized businesses.
Nuxeo said Thursday that it has received $3.8 million in funding from OTC Asset Management and OTC Extend. According to Nuxeo, the capital will be used for expansion in the U.S. market. Based in both New York and Paris, Nuxeo is a provider of content management solutions.
PureDiscovery Corp. said Thursday that it has raised $10 million in Series C financing. The lead investor was Medina Capital. Based in Dallas, PureDiscovery Corp. is a provider of semantic discovery solutions.
Salsify said Thursday that it has raised $8 million in Series A funding from Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners. Based in Boston, Salsify is a provider of product content management solutions.
Insightly said Thursday that it has closed $10 million in Series B funding. Cloud Apps Management was the lead investor. Emergence Capital Partners, Sozo Ventures and TrueBridge Capital Partners also participated in the round. In conjunction with the funding, Matt Holleran, founder and managing director of Cloud Apps Management and Gordon Ritter, founder and general partner of Emergence Capital Partners, have joined Insightly’s board. Based in San Francisco, Insightly is a provider of CRM solutions.
Cogent Partners said Thursday that it has expanded its China team with an addition. Dominik Woessner, who works as a director for the company, has relocated from London to the Shanghai office. Prior to joining Cogent Partners, Woessner was at Greenpark Capital. Headquartered in Dallas, Cogent Partners is a private equity-focused investment bank.
AdTheorent said Thursday that is has raised $4 million in funding. The investors included Verizon Investments, Mogility Capital and OmniCapital Group. According to the company, the capital will be used to expand R&D as well as its sales and marketing initiatives. AdTheorent is a mobile ad network.
