ReelGenie said Monday that it has closed $850,000 in seed funding. Investors included CNF Investments, the Maryland Venture Fund, faculty members from the Wharton School and angel investors. Headquartered in the Silver Spring Innovation Center in Maryland, ReelGenie is an online provider of videos created from photos and digital media.
San Diego, Calif-based aTyr Pharma said Monday that it has raised $49 million in financing. The investors were Alta Partners, Cardinal Partners, Domain Associates and Polaris Partners. The funding will be used for the clinical development of aTyr's first therapeutic program to treat rare autoimmune diseases and a rare disease pipeline in immune disorders. ATyr Pharma is a biopharmaceutical company focused on rare diseases.
SigmaCare said Monday that it has received new equity funding from Marlin Equity Partners and existing investors. No financial terms were disclosed. SigmaCare is a provider of clinical software solutions for the long-term and post-acute care market.
GridGain Systems said Monday that it has raised $10 million in Series B financing. The lead investor was Almaz Capital. Past investor RTP Ventures also participated in the round. In addition to the news about the funding, GridGain has named Geoffrey Baehr to the company's board. Headquartered in Foster City, Calif., GridGain is an in-memory computing platform.
LearnVest.com said Friday that it has raised $16.5 million in funding. The investors included Accel Partners; American Express Ventures; Claritas Capital; Ed Mathias, founding member of The Carlyle Group; and Todd Ruppert, former CEO and president of T. Rowe Price Global Investment Services. Also, the company has named Mathias, Ruppert, AOL's Brand Group CEO Susan Lyne and former Weight Watchers CFO Ann Sardini as advisors. Headquartered in New York City, LearnVest is an online financial planning program provider.
JOOR said Friday that it has closed $15 million in Series B funding. The lead investor was Canaan Partners. Advance Publications, parent company of Conde Nast, participated in the round as did existing investors Battery Ventures, Forerunner Partners and Lerer Ventures. According to JOOR, the capital will be used for expansion. With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Milan, Italy, JOOR is an online fashion platform.
Ciris Energy said Friday that it has received $25 million in Series C funding. Asia Pacific Capital of Hong Kong was the investor. Headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, Ciris Energy is a developer of coal gasification technologies. In addition to new investor Asia Pacific Capital of Hong Kong, Ciris Energy is also backed by ConocoPhillips, Braemar Energy, Energy Technology Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Lighthouse Capital Partners, Rho Ventures and Triplepoint Capital.
EquaMetrics said Friday that it has raised the final $2 million in seed funding from private unidentified angel investors. This brings the total round to $4.5 million. Based in New York, EquaMetrics is a financial technology firm that makes algorithmic trading accessible to all traders.
Bidgely has closed $5 million in financing, with Khosla Ventures leading the round. According to the company, the funding will be used to meet consumer demand and expand the engineering team. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Bidgely is a provider of energy technology solutions.
VidSys said Thursday that it has raised $15.65 million in equity financing. NewSpring Capital was the lead investor. Previous investors Atlanta Equity, Flybridge Capital Partners, JVax Investment Group and Motorola Solutions Venture Capital also participated in the round. Headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, VidSys is a provider of information security software.
