Pwnie Express has raised $5.1 million in Series A financing. The lead investor was .406 Ventures. Fairhaven Capital and the Vermont Seed Capital Fund also participated in the round. The new capital will be used for product growth and expansion. Based in Berlin, VT, Pwnie Express is a provider of penetration testing products.
Sialix said Tuesday that it has raised $1 million in financing. The investors included Boston Harbor Angels, Mass Medic Angels, Launchpad Angels and Maine Angels. Also, Brad Curley, a member of Boston Harbor Angels, has joined the company's board of directors while Richard Anders, founder of Mass Medic Angels, will act as a board observer. And, Dr. Peter Kiener, will serve as a business and scientific advisor to Sialix. Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Sialix is a developer of products that treat cancer and chronic inflammatory conditions.
Superfish said Tuesday that it has raised $10 million in Series D funding. Vintage Investment Partners was the lead investor. Existing investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures also participated in the round. Headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif., Superfish, which was seeded by Xenia Ventures, is a visual discovery platform.
Rover.com has raised $3.5 million in funding. The lead investor was pet specialty retailer Petco. Existing investors Madrona Venture Group, CrunchFund and Rolling Bay Ventures also participated in the round. Rover.com is an online community that connects dog owners with trusted dog sitters.
Jifiti has closed $2.5 million in seed funding. The investors were Simon Property Group, Schottenstein Stores Corp. and Jesselson Capital, a private investment firm in New York City. With offices in Columbus, Ohio and Israel, Jifiti is a maker of an in-store gift-giving app.
L'ArcoBaleno said Tuesday that it has raised Series A financing from a "group of international investors." The company did not disclose the exact amount but added that it was a "seven-figure" sum. Europe-based venture capital firm Holtzbrinck Ventures was the lead investor. DN Capital, Otto Capital BV and Novel TMT Ventures also participated in the round. Based in both New York and Berlin, Germany, L'ArcoBaleno is a luxury design ecommerce site.
Digabit said Tuesday that it has closed $3 million in Series A financing. The lead investor was Flywheel Ventures. High Country Ventures and several individual angel investors also participated in the round. Also, Trevor Loy, a general partner at Flywheel Ventures, has become the chairman of Digabit's board of directors. Based in Lakewood, Colorado, Digabit is a provider of Documoto, a modern web library for technical documents.
Edimer Pharmaceuticals said Tuesday that it has closed $18 million in Series B financing. The lead investor was New Enterprise Associates. New investor Sanofi-Genzyme BioVentures and previous investors Third Rock Ventures and VI Partners also participated in the round. In addition to the news about funding, David Mott will join Edimer's board. Based in Cambridge, Mass., Edimer Pharmaceuticals is a biotech company.
Bina Technologies said Tuesday that it has secured an additional $1.7 million in Series B financing. This now brings their total round to $8M. The lead investors were Mohsen Moazami at Columbus Nova Technology Partners and Jerry Yang at AME Cloud Ventures. Also, Bina Technologies has named Sharon Barr as vice president of engineering. She will start in mid-August. And Take Ogawa has joined the company as director of field sales while Thomas Kanar is now CFO. Based in Redwood City, Calif., Bina Technologies is a genomic big data science platform.
Oxford Genetics has received £150,000 in funding from UK-based venture capital firm Mercia Fund Management. The capital will be used for the company's ecommerce website and product development. Based in Oxfordshire, England, Oxford Genetics is a biotech company that provides human, mouse and bacterial DNA.
