Bidgely has closed $5 million in financing, with Khosla Ventures leading the round. According to the company, the funding will be used to meet consumer demand and expand the engineering team. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., Bidgely is a provider of energy technology solutions.
VidSys said Thursday that it has raised $15.65 million in equity financing. NewSpring Capital was the lead investor. Previous investors Atlanta Equity, Flybridge Capital Partners, JVax Investment Group and Motorola Solutions Venture Capital also participated in the round. Headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, VidSys is a provider of information security software.
Flashnotes, a Boston-based online marketplace where students can buy and sell class study material, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding. Investing in the round were Nicole Stata of Boston Seed Capital as well as previous investors Ryan Moore of Atlas Venture and Jordan Levy of Softbank Capital. In addition to the news about the funding, Flashnotes has acquired NoteUtopia, a California-based online community for buying and selling class notes. No financial terms were disclosed.
Zettics said Wednesday that it has closed $8.2 million in financing. New investor Excelestar Ventures led the round with additional participation from existing investors North Bridge Venture Partners, Voyager Capital, Steamboat Ventures and Emergence Capital Partners. Based in Concord, Mass., Zettics is a provider of big data analytics.
Springbot said Wednesday that it has raised $3 million in Series A funding. TechOperators led the round with participation from TTV Capital and existing investors Nonami Investments and Forté Ventures. Also, Dave Gould, a partner at TechOperators, joins Springbot's board of directors. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Springbot is a provider of ecommerce marketing solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.
MobileSpaces said it has received $8.6 million in Series B funding. The investors were Marker LLC and Accel Partners. Headquartered outside Washington, D.C., with offices near Tel Aviv, Israel, MobileSpaces is an enterprise mobile security startup.
Addvocate said Wednesday that it has raised $2 million in Series A funding. The lead investor was Rogers Venture Partners. Angel investor Karen Riley also participated in the round. In addition to the news about funding, Addvocate has named Piers Cooper as its COO. Based in San Francisco, Calif., Addvocate is an employee advocacy platform.
CALIENT Technologies said Wednesday that it has closed $27 million in financing. According to the company, a "combination of new and existing investors," all of whom are unnamed, participated in the round. Also, CALIENT has named Jag Setlur as its CFO. Headquartered in Santa Barbara, Calif., CALIENT is a provider of optical circuit switching technology.
The Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund said Wednesday that it has invested in six Michigan companies to a total amount of $1.5 million. The companies are AutoBike, AlertWatch, BEET Analytics Technology, IROA Technologies, Patient Provider Communications and TM3 Systems. The Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund is an equity fund that invests in technology-based companies in the state. Ann Arbor SPARK serves as the Fund's administrator.
Harbour Antibodies BV has received €2.5 million ($3.3 million) in funding. The lead investor was Atlas Venture. In addition to the funding, BJ Bormann, formerly SVP of business development and licensing at Boehringer Ingelheim and VP of strategic alliances at Pfizer, has been named CEO. Also, Atlas Venture’s Peter Barrett joins the board of directors as chairman. Harbour Antibodies BV is a company that uses transgenic mice for human antibody-based therapies.
