Audentes Therapeutics said Thursday that it has secured $30 million in Series A financing. The lead investor was OrbiMed Advisors. Versant Ventures and 5AM Ventures also participated in the round. Also, Jonathan Silverstein of OrbiMed Advisors, has been named chairman of Audentes' board. Headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., Audentes Therapeutics is a biotechnology company.
VelociData said Thursday that it has raised $10 million in financing. Motorola Chairman and CEO Christopher Galvin was the lead investor. Founding investors Bush O’Donnell and NewSpring Growth Capital also participated in the round. Also, Galvin joins VelociData's board of directors. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, VelociData is a provider of data solutions.
Netlist said Thursday that it has secured credit financing of $15 million from an affiliate of Fortress Investment Group, a global investment firm. According to Netlist, the financing will be used for product and patent portfolios. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Netlist is a provider of memory solutions for the cloud computing and storage markets.
TB Biosciences said Thursday that it has raised $1.5 million in Series A financing. The lead investor was Originate Ventures. Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the NYU Innovation Venture Fund also participated in the round. According to TB Biosciences, the funding will be used for product development and clinical trials. Based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, TB Biosciences is a developer of a rapid point-of-care tuberculosis test.
Cintrifuse said Thursday that its Early Stage Capital Fund I is investing in Allos Ventures Fund II and Sigma Prime IX Fund. No exact financial terms were disclosed for the two investments, however, Cintrifuse has raised $51 million for its fund. Managed by Allos Ventures, Allos II focuses on early-stage software and business technology companies while Sigma Prime IX, which is run by Sigma Prime Ventures, targets technology startups. Based in Cincinnati, The Cintrifuse Early Stage Capital Fund I is a venture capital fund of funds that invests in early-stage venture capital funds with a focus on technology, life sciences, consumer goods/services and energy.
Ioxus has raised $15 million in Series C funding. The lead investor was The Westly Group. Northwater Capital Management, Braemar Energy Ventures, Energy Technology Ventures and Aster Capital also participated in the round. According to Ioxus, the capital will be used for research and development as well as expansion. Headquartered in Oneonta, NY, Ioxus is a provider of technology for transportation, industrial and energy applications.
Yapert said Thursday that it has raised $1.2 million in seed funding. The lead investor was Tech Coast Angels. Desert Angels, Pasadena Angels, and other independent angel investors also participated in the round. Headquartered in San Diego, Calif., Yapert is an interactive mobile magazine designed for fans to engage with celebrities.
Anaqua has received a "significant investment" from Insight Venture Partners. No financial terms were disclosed although one news source reports the amount to be $100 million. According to terms of the agreement, the transaction included the buyout of Anaqua's existing investors. Also, Insight's Managing Directors, Jeff Horing and Alex Crisses, have been named to Anaqua's board of directors. Headquartered in Boston, Anaqua is a provider of intellectual asset management services and SaaS software.
Grovo.com said Wednesday that it has closed $5.5 million in Series A funding. The lead investor was Greg Waldorf, former CEO of eHarmony. Greg Sands of Costanoa Venture Capital and Jeff Clavier of SoftTech VC also participated in the round. According to Grovo, the capital will be used for growth and expansion. In addition to the funding, Waldorf joins Grovo's board of directors as chairman. Headquartered in New York, Grovo is an online education company.
Xamarin said Wednesday that it has closed $16 million in Series B funding. Lead Edge Capital was the lead investor. Previous investors Charles River Ventures, Ignition Partners and Floodgate also participated in the round. Xamarin is an apps developer.
