Seattle, Washington-based 2nd Watch, a cloud-based provider of IT applications for enterprise clients, is taking a $4.2 million funding round led by Madrona Venture Group. Other private backers also participated in the funding round.
Tapit Media completed a $2.3 million round of fundraising from investors including MPC Ventures Pty Limited to develop its NFC content delivery. Tapit was founded in 2011 and is based in Australia.
Topo Athletic is being launched in Massachusetts by Tony Post, the former CEO and president of Vibram USA. Norwest Venture Partners funded the startup. Topo is an athletic gear company.
Fab is taking on The Times of India Group and its Times Internet arm as its latest investor, raising what the company only called a “7-figure investment” in the company. Other specifics were not publicized; Satyan Gajwani, CEO of Times Internet Group fostered the deal. Fab has raised more than $150 million since its 2011 inception. Other backers include Andreessen Horowitz, Baroda Ventures and Mayfield Fund.
Cherrystone Angels led a $6.4 million round in Avaxia Biologics, a Massachusetts-based clinical-stage biopharma company. Golden Seeds, the Beta Fund, Granite State Angels, the Keiretsu Forum, and Maine Angels, all new investors, and existing backers Beacon Angels, Boston Harbor Angels, Launchpad Venture Group, Mass Medical Angels and North Country Angels all participated in the round.
DioGenix, the Gaithersburg, Maryland-based molecular diagnostics company, announced it has raised $1.5 million. Nerveda LLC, a life science fund, participated in the Series B round.
Plex Systems, the Michigan-based cloud company for manufacturers, is taking $30 million from Accel Partners in a round of financing. Sameer Gandhi of Accel will join the company’s board as part of the deal, where already, Francisco Partners is represented.
Nor1, the California-based sales technology company, is taking a $9 million Series B round of funding from Concur, the listed provider of travel and expense management solutions. Other backers in the startup include as Goldman Sachs and Accel Partners.
Glossybox, the Berlin-based beauty box delivery company, has raised about $72 million in a new round of funding and has shipped its two millionth box, the company announced. Investors include Rocket Internet, Holtzbrinck Ventures, and Investment AB Kinnevik.
Ethical Electric, the D.C.-based company that sells renewable electricity, has closed a Series AA round of $2.4 million. Brian Arbogast, a member of Seattle-based Northwest Energy Angels will join Ethical Electric's board of directors as part of the transaction.
