DeNovo Sciences said this week that it has hired Joe Flanagan as a VP, Market Development. He will lead strategic initiatives for clinical commercialization of DeNovo products in the United States, DeNovo said. Plymouth, Mich.-based Denovo, which focuses on cancer diagnostic products, has received angel funding from investors including Ann Arbor SPARK, Detroit Innovate, Invest Michigan and First Step Fund.
CloudOne said Thursday it secured $4.5 million in Series D led by Plymouth Ventures. Existing investors, HKS Capital Advisors and Elevate Ventures through the Indiana 21st Century Research & Technology Fund, are expected to participate. Indianapolis-based CloudOne provides cloud-based enterprise applications.
Abingworth said Friday that Kurt von Emster was named a partner effective January 5th. He will be based in Menlo Park and will help source and manage deals in early-stage and late-stage venture capital, venture growth and public market investments including VIPEs. London-based Abingworth is an investment group that focuses on life sciences and healthcare.
Prong Inc said Thursday it closed a $1.6 million Series A financing led by Georgia Oak Partners. New York-based Prong provides the PocketPlug, a mobile phone case with integrated A/C charging plugs.
ThreatStream said Thursday it raised $22 million in series B funding led by General Catalyst Partners. New investors Institutional Venture Partners and previous investors Google Ventures and Paladin Capital Group also participated. Redwood City, Calif.-based ThreatStream offers a SaaS-based cyber security threat intelligence platform.
Xfund said Thursday its second fund closed with $100 million in committed capital. Existing limited partners New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Breyer Capital, and Accel Partners anchored the fund and were joined by long-term institutional LPs. Patrick Chung, most recently a partner at NEA, has also joined Xfund as a GP. Founded at Harvard University in 2011 by a partnership of NEA, Breyer Capital, Accel Partners and Polaris Partners, Xfund is an early-stage venture capital firm.
Allena Pharmaceuticals has completed a $25 million Series B financing led by HBM Partners. Existing investors Frazier Healthcare, Third Rock Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and new investor Pharmstandard International also participated. Newton, Mass.-based Allena is specialty biopharmaceutical company that develops non-systemic protein therapeutics to treat metabolic and orphan diseases.
Forbion Capital Partners has sold PneumRx to BTG. Cash consideration was $230 million and up to $245 million in performance related future milestone payments.PneumRx is a interventional pulmonology business that makes and distributes the RePneu Coil System, which aims to treat advanced emphysema.
Connora Technologies said Wednesday that it received an investment from Samsung Venture Investment Corp. Hayward, Calif.-based Connora is chemical company with expertise in molecular design of degradable performance thermoset materials.
