Tallwave Capital has closed its first fund at $13.15 million. Tallwave Commercialization Fund I, a seed fund focused on the technology sector, will seek to make seed investments of $125K - $400K in early-stage differentiated consumer and enterprise focused businesses in most industry vertical markets. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Tallwave is an early-stage investment firm that targets Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms, mobile applications, digital media, ad tech and ecommerce platforms across North America.
CareSync said Tuesday it has secured $4.25 million in Series A financing led by Tullis Health Investors, Clearwell Group, CDH Solutions, and CareSync Founder & CEO, Travis Bond. Wesley Chapel, Fla.-based CareSync provides an app that lets users, their families, and their care teams access, filter, and share health information.
Benu Networks has raised a $27.7 million funding round. Liberty Global Ventures and Arris Group participated. Benu, which provides networking and software solutions for network operators deploying Wi-Fi and Cloud services, said it hired Dino Di Palma as its CEO. Existing investors include Spark Capital, Sutter Hill Ventures and Comcast Ventures.
Viamet Pharmaceuticals Holdings said Tuesday it closed a $60 million Series D financing provided by Brandon Point Industries Ltd. working with Woodford Investment Management. Current investors includes Novartis Venture Fund, Lilly Ventures, Hatteras Venture Partners, Intersouth Partners, Lurie Holdings and Astellas Venture Management. Durham, N.C.-based Viamet Pharma develops antifungal agents using a metalloenzyme medicinal chemistry platform.
Recurly said Monday it has closed a $12 million Series B round led by Devonshire Investors, the private investment arm of Fidelity Investments. Greycroft Partners and existing investors, Polaris Partners and e.ventures, also participated. Recurly, of San Francisco, is a pay-as-you-go subscription billing platform.
Selecta Biosciences said Wednesday it has secured $20 million in equity funding from new and all of Selecta’s existing investors. Including the $20 million, Selecta said it has obtained a total of $78.6 Million in funding to date. Investors include Polaris Venture Partners, Flagship Ventures, OrbiMed Advisors, NanoDimension, Rusnano, I2BF, Eminent Venture Capital and Leukon Investments. Selecta is a clinical stage biotechnology company that is developing a class of targeted antigen-specific immune therapies.
Rigontec GmbH said Tuesday it raised €9.45 million (US$11.95 million) in a first close of a Series A round co-led by Wellington Partners and Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund. Other investors include NRW Bank and High-Tech Gründerfonds. Rigontec, a biopharmaceutical company, is developing RNA-based immunotherapeutics for the treatment of cancer and viral diseases.

Michael Duffey has joined First Advantage as CFO. First Advantage, of Atlanta, provides background screening, identity and information services for employers and housing providers, is backed by the Symphony Technology Group. Duffy was previously CFO at Symphony IRI, another STG company.
