YouBeauty has closed an $8.6 million Series A-1 funding round led by existing lead investor Contour Venture Partners and new investor MainLine Special Opportunities Fund. New York-based YouBeauty is a women's digital media brand that includes YouBeauty.com and eCommerce site Beautysage.com.
Olapic has closed a a $5 million Series A round of funding led by Fung Capital USA and Longworth Venture Partners. Great Oaks and Scout Ventures, existing investors, also participated. New York-based Olapic provides a platform to collect and curate crowd sourced photos and videos.
Grand Cru has raised €8.5 million (US$11.3 mln) in Series A funding. New investors Qualcomm Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners join the lead investor Idinvest Partners. Grand Cru is a game developer based in Helsinki. Grand Cru said the total amount raised comes to €12.5 MM (more than $16.6 mln).
BEST Funds has invested C$4 million (US$3.9 million0 into Intelligent Mechatronic Systems. Waterloo, Canada-based IMS provides  telematics and infotainment technologies.
Catbird has secured a $10 million investment from Medina Capital. Scotts Valley, Calif.-based Catbird provides security and compliance for virtualized and private cloud data centers. Medina's total investment in Catbird comes to $12 million, the company said.
Librato has closed a $3.8 million Series A round of funding led by Baseline Ventures, Harrison Metal and Cowboy Ventures. San Francisco-based Librato provides a cloud-based monitoring platform for development and operations teams.
Brookstone Partners has recapitalized Denison Pharmaceuticals. Financial terms were not announced. Management also invested. Bank Rhode Island and Midwest Mezzanine Funds provided financing. Providence, R.I.-based Denison provides contract manufacturing and packaging solutions to the branded over-the-counter pharmaceuticals industry.
Prolexic Technologies said Thursday it has closed $30 million in Series C funding led by new investors Trident Capital and Intel Capital. Hollywood, Fla.-based Prolexic is a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) mitigation provider. Existing shareholders include Kennet Partners, Camden Partners and Medina Capital.
DCM and Infinity Capital Partners have invested $2.7 million in freee. Tokyo-based freee is an automated online accounting software developed for SMBs.
IncWell is investing $100,000 in a round of Series B funding raised by iRule. Detroit-based iRule is a universal remote control app for iOS and Android that aims to control home gadgets from a mobile phone or tablet.
