BizAnytime said Tuesday it raised more than $2 million in seed funding. The company said it focused on smaller independent investors and not traditional VC funds. Tucson, Ariz.-based BizAnytime provides advanced tools for collaboration, communication and sharing.
Algae International Group has signed a $5 million reserve equity financing facility with AGS Capital Group. Addison, Texas-based Algae is a development stage renewable energy company that is seeking to develop biofuel from algae.
C2FO has closed an $18 million growth round led by Mithril. Mithril was joined by existing investors Union Square Ventures, Summerhill Venture Partners and OpenAir Equity Partners. Fairway, Kansas-based C2FO provides a collaborative exchange for working capital.
Liberty Global Ventures and IDG Ventures USA have invested in Expect Labs. They join current investors such as Google, Intel, Samsung, and Telefónica. San Francisco-based Expect Labs is the creator of the iPad app MindMeld, which is an intelligent assistant that can understand conversations in real-time.
Technology Crossover Ventures has invested $66 million in TOA Technologies. Beechwood, Ohio-based TOA provides field service and mobile workforce management software solutions.
Ouya announced Thursday a "Free the Games Fund" that has $1 million in matching funds. Game developers have access to matching fund, from $50,000 up to $250,000, for for Ouya-bound games launched on Kickstarter between Aug. 9 to Aug. 10. Games must meet their Kickstarter funding goal and raise a minimum of $50,000 to be eligible for matching. Ouya said it will match 100% of the total funds raised up to $250,000.
Esentire has raised $7 million in a financing round, including $5.5 million from Edison Ventures. Existing investor VentureLink also participated. Esentire, of Canada, provides threat solutions for the hedge fund industry.
Triton Systems said its composites division, along with partner Specialty Material, have received MassVentures 2013 START Stage I Funding for their FRA Composites™ technology. Financial terms were not announced. Triton’s FRA Composites™ offers an alternative to traditional steel and aluminum for use in products such as pump and actuator housings.
Elevate Ventures has invested $50,000 in Curvo. Evansville, Ind.-based Curvo is a data platform that allows hospitals, surgery centers and medical device companies to connect and share information.
Kit Check said Tuesday it raised a $10.4 million Series A funding round led by New Leaf Venture Partners. Sands Capital Ventures, Easton Capital Investment Group and LionBird also participated in the round. Kit Check provides automated pharmacy kit processing software for hospitals.
