OncoEthix has closed a Series B financing raising 18 Million CHF (~US$19 Million) led by SV Life Sciences. Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners, a new investor, also participated along with Index Ventures and Endeavour Vision. OncoEthix, of Switzerland, is a specialist in oncology drug development.
ChemistDirect said Thursday it secured just under $10 million of new investment from Atomico, Lepe Partners and dmg media Investment. ChemistDirect, of the U.K., is an online pharmacy. Atomico previously invested in ChemistDirect in 2009.
Sungevity has raised $15 million in equity financing, including an investment from GE Ventures. Oakland, Calif,-based Sungevity develops rooftop solar technology.
Invest Nebraska Corp. said Wednesday it participated in Phynd Technology’s $2 million seed funding round. Phynd, of Kearney, Neb., is a Provider Management Platform that helps healthcare institutions and providers operate more efficiently.
Engrade said Wednesday it secured $5 million in a Series B funding round led by Javelin Venture Partners. Other participants include Rethink Education, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, Kapor Capital, Expansion Capital and Ed-Mentor. Engrade, of Santa Monica, provides a cloud-based platform for teacher, school leaders and administrators.
Albion Ventures is selling Opta to Perform Group for £40 million. London-based Opta provides sports data and analysis. Albion says it has invested approximately £2.1 million over three rounds of funding. As a results of the sale, Albion will have generated a return of over three times their investment.
Institutional Venture Partners on Monday defended its investment in Snapchat. IVP was lead investor of the company’s recent Series B financing round. Press reports value the round at $60 million. Dennis Phelps, an IVP general partner, said in a blog post that Snapchat's growth and engagement metrics are off the charts. "Seldom have we seen a consumer application with this type of user momentum and excitement," he wrote.
Attendware Corp. has raised a $1 million Series A funding round from .406 Ventures. Boston-based Attendware provides event check in and auto name tag printing software.
PeerTransfer has closed $6.4 million in new funding. Investments came from QED Investors, led by Nigel Morris, co-founder of Capital One Financial Services, and FIDES and KIBO Ventures. Existing investors also participated including Spark Capital and Maveron. Boston-based peerTransfer provides payment solutions for the education industry.
Watchwith has completed $5 million in venture financing from Rogers Venture Partners with participation from early stage investors ARRIS (formerly Motorola Mobility), and Gracenote. San Francisco-based Watchwith is a sync-to-broadcast content management platform and syndication network.
