Snapchat said Monday that International Venture Partners was lead investor of the company's recent Series B financing round. General Catalyst, Benchmark Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and SV Angel also participated in the round. Press reports value the round at $60 million. Snapchat is a photo messaging application.
Aviir said Friday that it has secured a third $10 million tranche from a group that includes new investor Partners & Partners. Merck Global Health Innovation Fund led the round while current investors Bay City Capital, Aberdare Ventures, and New Leaf Venture Partners also participated. Total financing for Aviir, a biotechnology company focused on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, comes to $30 million. Inverness Advisors, a division of KEMA Partners LLC, acted as exclusive placement agent.
Entelos said it has received additional financing from its current investors Clearlake Capital Partners and Michaelson Capital Partners. San Mateo, Calif.-based Entelos is a silico modeling and simulation software and services company.
Personetics has completed a series B funding of $11.5 million led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Sequoia Capital and Carmel Ventures joined the round. New York-based Personetics provides predictive customer engagement solutions for the banking industry.
Muzy said Thursday it raised a $4.4 million round of investment funding. Investors include WPP; DOCOMO Capital, the Silicon Valley venture arm of NTT DOCOMO; Recruit Strategic Partners, the Corporate Venture Capital of Recruit Holdings; and Chinese internet entrepreneurs Xuyang Ren, former VP of Corporate Development for Baidu, and Jianfeng Lu, former CTO of Qihoo 360. San Francisco-based Muzy is an early-stage microblogging service.
Fab has closed $150 million in new funding, according to a blog post from co-founder and co-CEO Jason Goldberg. Tencent is an investor. The funding is part of a larger Series D round that Goldberg expects will be completed over the next few months. Fab has raised more than $310 million since its inception, he says. Press reports say Fab's valuation, excluding the new funding, was $1 billion.
Insight Venture Partners, Red Oak Growth Partners, and Egis Capital Partners have invested in Card Scanning Solutions. Financial terms weren't announced. Card Scanning provides identity solutions software for reading data from driver licenses, medical cards, and other official documents.
Parakweet said Tuesday it secured $2 million in funding led by a group of investors including Scott Banister, an early investor in PayPal, Zappos and Powerset; Alan Braverman, co-founder of Yammer and Eventbrite; David Jeske, former Director of Engineering at Google; and other angel investors and entrepreneurs. San Francisco-based Parakweet is a platform that offers product recommendations to consumers, as well as social media analytics and metadata to global media companies
CareCloud has secured $20 million in Series B funding led by Tenaya Capital and included existing investors Intel Capital and Norwest Venture Partners. CareCloud provides cloud-based practice management, electronic health record (EHR) and medical billing software and services for medical groups.
John F. Maroney is joining ForSight VISION5 as President, CEO and Director. ForSight VISION5 also completed its Series B-1 financing which raised $9.3m and was led by Technology Partners and joined by Delphi Ventures. VISION5, a clinical development stage company focused on ophthalmic diseases, is the fifth company created by ForSight Labs. Maroney will continue to serve as a Venture Partner for Delphi Ventures.
