Minimally Invasive Devices said Monday it raised an additional $2.5 million from Radius Ventures, topping off its Series B financing at $11.5 million. The Series B originally raised $9 million in a financing led by Canaan Partners with participation by existing investor, Charter Life Sciences. Minimally Invasive Devices develops and makes the FloShield laparoscopic vision system.
GutCheck has completed a $4 million Series B equity financing. This financing includes new investors, Grotech Ventures and Crawley Ventures, along with existing investors Highway 12 Ventures and Village Ventures. Denver-based GutCheck is an on-demand market research firm.
Nourish Organic said Thursday it secured $3 million in new funding led by Renewal Funds. Strategic investors include husband and wife actors Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. Nourish Organic, owned by Sensible Organics, says it provides a 100% USDA certified organic bath and body line of products.
Thumbtack said Thursday it closed a $12.5 million "Series B" investment round led by Sequoia Capital. Prior investors Javelin Venture Partners and MHS Capital also contributed to the new investment round. San Francisco-based Thumbtack aims to make it easier for consumers to hire local service professionals.
RelateIQ said Thursday it closed $20 million in Series B financing. Company investors include Accel Partners, Formation 8, Battery Ventures, AMC Cloud Ventures, Thrive Capital, Allen & Co., and a number of well-­known angel investors. Palo Alto, Calif.-based RelateIQ, a big data startup, says it raised a total of $29 million in funding to date.
Circular Energy said Thursday it secured $2.7 million in Series A funding from Cypress Capital and a handful of other private investors. Austin-based Circular is a solar design and installation company.
Silverback Learning Solutions has secured $2.5 million in financing from angel investors. Silverback Learning is the developer of Mileposts, an instructional improvement system used in schools K-12.
Dataminr said Wednesday it raised a $30 million VC round of funding led by Venrock and Institutional Venture Partners. Dataminr said that $25 million came from Venrock and IVP while $5 million was from existing investors, including GSV Capital Corp, Deep Fork Capital, and Wharton Equity Partners. New York-based Dataminr is an information discovery company.
TVA Medical said Monday that raised $9.5 million in series B financing led by S3 Ventures.  TriStar Technology Ventures and existing investor, Santé Ventures also participated. Austin-based TVA is a medical device company.
Valeritas has closed a $100 million in structured debt financing with Capital Royalty L.P. Bridgewater, N.J.-based Valeritas makes the V-Go insulin delivery device.
