Cooltech Applications said Wednesday that it raised €8 million (US$10.4 million) from historical shareholders and two new investors: Demeter Partners and 123Venture. Strasbourg, France-based Cooltech is a specialist in magnetic refrigeration.
Square 1 Bank has provided a $3 million term loan to SteadyMed Therapeutics. Ramon, Calif.-based SteadyMed is a specialty pharmaceutical company backed by KB Partners and Samson Ventures. SteadyMed plans to use the proceeds to continue development of its PatchPump technology and complete clinical trials for FDA Approval, according to a statement.
ORIX Ventures said Tuesday that it closed a $10 million commitment to Serena & Lily. Sausalito, Calif.-based Serena & Lily offers textiles, furnitures and other home decor products.
Theraclone Sciences said Monday it closed $14 million in additional financing. Existing investors -- ARCH Venture Partners, Canaan Partners, MPM Capital, Healthcare Ventures, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Amgen Ventures, Versant Ventures and Zenyaku Kogyo -- committed $8 million equity. Another $6 million in venture debt was secured through a credit facility with MidCap Financial and Silicon Valley Bank. Seattle-based Theraclone develops novel therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of infectious disease and cancer.
Dachis Group said Wednesday it closed $7.5 million in Series C funding led by Austin Ventures. Dachis Group, of New York, provides a big data social marketing analytics platform in market.
QPID said Wednesday that it closed $4 million in funding from investors including Matrix Partners, Partners Innovation Fund, Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and Cardinal Partners. Brandon Hull, Cardinal Partners' managing GP, is joining QPID’s board. Boston-based QPID provides electronics health records software.
Meritech Capital Partners has led a $30 million investment in Hybris Software, which expects to go public later this year.
LockerDome has completed a $6 million Series A funding round led by Cultivation Capital Growth Fund. Other investors include the St. Louis Cardinals President William DeWitt III and other members of the St. Louis Cardinals ownership group, 5-time NHL All-Star and Hart Trophy winner Chris Pronger, and a member of the Milwaukee Brewers ownership group, as well as other undisclosed parties. Cultivation Capital is the VC fund from Square co-founder Jim McKelvey. LockerDome, of St. Louis, is a social networking site for sports.
HBM Partners led a $21 million Series D financing round for Gynesonics. Correlation Ventures, a new investor, took part in the financing as well as existing investors Abingworth, Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV) and InterWest Partners. Redwood City, Calif.-based Gynesonics is a women’s healthcare company that develops minimally invasive solutions for symptomatic uterine fibroids.
Ping4 Inc. said Monday that it has closed a $4 million private placement. The investors are a a group of successful serial entrepreneurs, a spokeswoman says. The Nashua, N.H.-based company provides "Ping4alerts!," which are advisories and warnings from Federal and local authorities, for mobile phones. Ping4 has raised  nearly $7 million in private placement.
