Calm said June 20 that it raised $27 million in Series A funding led by Insight Venture Partners. Also participating were Ashton Kutcher’s Sound Ventures and singer Harry Styles. Calm previously raised $1.5 million from seed investors. Calm is an app for meditation, mindfulness and sleep.
Think3 said June 20 that it acquired MyAlerts Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. MyAlerts, of Minneapolis, is an e-commerce marketing platform used by retail and consumer sites to capture purchase intent.
SigFig said June 19 that it raised $50 million in Series E funding led by General Atlantic. Also participating were existing investors including Bain Capital Ventures, DCM Ventures, Eaton Vance, New York Life, Nyca Partners, UBS, and Union Square Ventures.  SigFig, of San Francisco, aims to make investment advice more accessible and affordable for investors of all wealth levels.
Tropic Biosciences said June 13 that closed a $10 million Series A round led by Pontifax AgTech and Five Seasons Ventures. The round included several co-investors, including Tekfen Ventures, Emerald Technology Ventures, Bits x Bites, Midven-RSF and the family offices of Gigi Levy-Weiss and Antonio Moreira Salles. Tropic Biosciences is developing plant varieties in the tropical agriculture industry using CRISPR Gene Editing.
Back Market said June 13 that it raised $48 million in funding. Investors include Groupe Arnault, Eurazeo, Aglaé Ventures and Daphni. Total investment in Back Market comes to $55 million. Back Market is a marketplace dedicated to refurbished electronic products and appliances (smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other products).
McKesson Ventures has invested in Propeller Health, adding to the $20 million funding round announced last week. Financial terms weren’t revealed. Propeller is a digital therapeutics company.
LendStreet Inc said June 7 that it raised $7 million in Series A funding led by Prudential Financial Inc and Radicle Impact. LendStreet also raised $110 million in debt financing from Prudential and Community Investment Management. LendStreet joined existing investors Accion, the Center for Financial Services Innovation (CFSI), Serious Change, Crunchfund, Kapor Capital, and Cross Culture Ventures in participating in the round. LendStreet, of Oakland, California, is an online consumer debt restructuring and consolidation platform.
FTV Capital, the San Francisco growth firm, again has put Aspire Financial Services up for sale, three sources said. FTV has not hired a banker this time around. Instead, the firm is reaching out to select parties, one of the sources said. Aspire, of Tampa, Florida, provides retirement-plan solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. Microsoft Corp said June 4 that it agreed to buy GitHub for $7.5 billion in stock. The deal is expected to close by the end of the calendar year. GitHub, of San Francisco, is a software development platform where more than more than 28 million developers learn, share and collaborate. GitHub has raised $350 million in funding, crunchbase said. Investors include Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and Thrive Capital.
ENYO Pharma said June 4 that it raised 40 million pounds ($53.5 million) in a series B round led by OrbiMed, followed by Andera Partners (previously EDRIP) and Bpifrance Large Venture as new shareholders. Existing shareholders, Sofinnova Private Capital VII, Morningside Venture Investments, InnoBio and Inserm Transfert Initiative also participated to this round. ENYO is a clinical stage biotech company.
