The venture capital arm of the computer chipmaker said Tuesday it invested $250 million in emerging companies though September with 58% of its dollars going to startups outside North America. The pace, if continued through the fourth quarter, suggests annual investing of $333 million, well behind the $526 million of 2011.
SOASTA said it has acquired LogNormal, the developer of measurement and monitoring technology for mobile and web applications. The purchase closed in September. No terms were released.
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers said it launched its 2013 Engineering Fellows program for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. universities who are studying computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics or fields related to software development. The 2013 Engineering Fellows Program is now accepting applicants.
Citrix Startup Accelerator said it invested $250,000 in AppEnsure Inc. The Citrix Startup Accelerator provides seed funding and office space to select startups from around the world. Earlier this year, AppEnsure, which is developing an application performance management platform, was selected by venture capitalists and Citrix leaders to be the recipient of a $100,000 Citrix investment during the Startup.Synergy Challenge.
